Whilst playing with a macro extensiontube on a dSLR I decided to attempt to do some filming to see if that would work. As you can see, I am crap at filming and cheap extention tubes deliver a shitty image. However, I did notice some tiny insect appearing to crawl from under a snail´s shell, wander about on the snail and then retreat under the shell. has anyone any idea what this insect is?

You made me google parasites. Euurgh, I am so itchy right now.
No idea, but reminded me of the blue squelchy things from trap door.. Creepy, crawly, slimy things, that stick on to your skin... Horrid beasts with tentacles, that want to pull you in... Squirmy worms, slugs and snails, that rot there in a goo... They'll wait down there forever, 'till they get their hands on you... Don't you open that trapdoor, You're a fool if you dare
You need a nice little gorilla pod or similar, or post-prod image stabilisation for these shots.

I had no idea the buggers moved that fast. My garden must be overrun by the bastards, two days ago I found one on the back of a bumblebee.

then for DOF you might want to look into the DOF preview trick.

Some knowledgable folk on there will give you an answer I expect. Could be any sort of invertebrate, may not be snail specific but maybe soil-living, and just happens to be on the snail. Well spotted though. Looks like your extension tubes have given you a very shallow depth of field, so makes the focussing difficult.

I´ll see if I can extract a frame from the original footage.

weird I know, but if you speed up the film it's pretty cool. Grab a bunch of the together in a pile, film it and speed it up.
And no, it's not slug porn.
Perverts!

They do look pretty cool close up, mind.
