It does that for whichever country you try Japan, Africa, Worldwide, from that I would say yes, the US really does have the highest recorded figures
EDIT - You get a few results for Germany and a couple in Finland

I can only think of 3 killing sprees involving firearms in the UK
Hungerford, Dunblane and Cumbria.
A lot of the incidents in link above seem to be grievances with other pupils or teachers. The killing spree guys seem to go tooled with extra mags aiming for a top score and not worried who gets it.

The phrase “you don’t think something like that would happen here” is always uttered by white reporters about mass shootings in white neighborhoods, and the implication is that “you” would “think” something like that would happen black or brown people in the inner city.
Only it never happens to black or brown people in the inner city. It’s always a white person in a white neighborhood.

Good point, it is not entirely clear to me why the mass school shooting phenomenon seems to be a white middle-class pathology.

I'm not sure it's a mirror.
I mean: it'd be nuts to deny that there're some out-and-out dangerous people, and that there's no reason to believe that they're roughly equally distributed throughout all ethnicities. And, on reflection, I do wonder whether the ethnicity think in the LGM post to which I linked is overdone - whether the same thing could be said on class lines.
And I really don't think it's desirable to get into a your-mass-shooting-isn't-as-bad-as-mine poker games. But - as has been noted elsewhere on this board in the last 24 hours - killings in white middle class areas (especially when perpetrated by white middle class people) do seem to attract a lot more "You wouldn't expect it here" responses... as though there's something extra special about white middle class killings.

Have to question the basic accuracy of that Wikipedia entry from the off.
"The earliest known United States shooting to happen on school property was the Pontiac's Rebellion school massacre on July 26, 1764, where four Lenape American Indians entered the schoolhouse near present-day Greencastle, Pennsylvania, shot and killed schoolmaster Enoch Brown, and killed nine or ten children (reports vary). Only three children survived."
An event which pre-dates the existance of the USA by 12 years. An error which is so basic it makes the complicated rest questionable.
