and existing stock won't be impounded.
It'll only be an issue if the import ban is extended (which it likely won't be)
we can only hope though, that Sony ends up paying through the teeth for this.

the article said 2-3 weeks, so I went with the pessimistic option. And those are mostly already pre-ordered. So actual stores may have alot less.

There's nothing
wrong with a company protecting its assests, but Sony do it in such a draconian way. Microsoft, for parts, have embraced Kinect hackers, which is pretty cool really. BTW I love my PS3 and am not really that bothered about all the techy politics that go on, so I really don't know much :/

EDIT: Oh yeah, and for not making the PS3 completely backwards compatible with its immediate predecessor, thus forcing you to buy new, pricier games to play (companies don't profit directly from the second hand market), not to mention having to keep old of your aging, failing PS2 in order to play your favourite classics.

Ah, bugger....
My man has recently started saving for a PS3 of his own, to play Metal Gear Solid 4 on. He *really* loves the MGS games. He'll never be able to afford one now, if they have to bump prices up or people who want one buy a second hand one instead. =(
