"the animal is OKAY"
The fuck it is.
I once inflated a 2 litre bottle to 120 psi, and that was scary. Shot it with an air rifle - the boom was very loud.

I worked at a tyre and exhaust fitters a few times in my teens when my mates' dad (the owner) left my mate in charge to go on holiday.
All the ingredients for experimenting with some scarily dangerous water bottle rockets.

A friend of mine worked in a tyrce centre two doors up from where I worked.
One day he fitted a tyre valve to the lid of a plastic Panda Pop bottle. It blew at well over 70psi and made an amazing bang.

I chased a rolling 32 oz glass soda bottle
that escaped my stocking it on the shelf. It exploded when my open hand to grab it was one foot away. Lots of cute little holes: None in my face. I was 24? at the time and thought it was funny.

I was told they are tested to 150psi
But I agree that they are pretty scary anywhere close to that. I once put some dry ice in one and waited for it to blow - it never happened - I ended up with a rock-hard bottle that I had to cover with a piece of plywood through which I hammered a nail while standing on it.
