He said: "It was enormous, the biggest thing I'd ever seen, and quick too, it darted across the wood. It crawled into a corner and stopped moving, I grabbed an empty box of screws and managed to trap it inside – it completely filled the box".
I'm afraid I might have just reached for the nail gun for that beastie.

Are they the ones they have in Iraq too?
A squaddie friend of mine who was out there said he stamped on one, and "it just looked at me, brushed the dust off its tattoos, and wandered off". *shudders*

That rings a bell actually.
Trouble is, I AM now thinking of Camel spiders! I just scanned the room, seems ok so far... But inquiring minds need to know; if they aren't spiders, what are they?

they are actually called "solifugae" I think... they are an order of arachnid just like spiders and scorpions are.

Oh This Is Bad
This is *really bad*
"The eight-legged spider, also known as the giant crab spider, has a painful bite that causes swelling, which can lead to vomiting and headaches."
An *8* legged spider? They don't come much worse than that.
*FEAR*
Cheers

That's just scary!
I know EXACTLY where that pic was taken. Right next to Earlswood train station, yeah? An old mate of mine lives (or at least used to live) in the block in the background of that shot. =P
And oh yeah, big spider. Somewhere. Woo.
