It barely seems like last month Orbital did a farewell gig at Glastonbury.

and I am equally confused as to what they meant by 'farewell'.

they got fed up playing chime
they decided to stop playing chime for a bit & try new things
they tried new things
new things turned out to be shit
they realised that playing chime wasn't that bad after all
nice one. move on.

but am disappointed that despite having an extensive and eclectic back catalogue, they still play this stupid novelty tune.

But still delicious

If they'd played the tune and invited him on to do something else. Fine.
If they'd announced before hand he was coming on and he played the tune. Fine.
But coming on and just doing it is the same as dancing to your songs at a club. It's just not done.

It wouldn't have made much sense for him to come on and do anything else. It just seems like they thought it would be a fun thing to do and a nice surprise for the audience.
However, it would have been good if he had come on and revealed loads of final episode spoilers for people who were planning on watching it when they got home.

Can't remember what the feature's called but they each choose a record for each of ten themes and the listeners decide who chose the best. Anyhoo I thought he came off as a thoroughly nice chap who knows his music on that.
As I think must have been mentioned last time this was posted: needs more karen gillan.
