This is a normal post Mark Riley
still does a good show on 6 Music. And I might add I'm old enough to remember listening to them on the graveyard shift, and before that on "Out on Blue 6".

This is a normal post Wow
that's quite a collection and some hardcore dedication, but I'm not moved to tears for his bemoaning the demise of vinyl. He may have overlooked that the rest of us have all moved on, and that's simply untrue what he harps on about digital music being inferior in quality; as soon as that needle is on the plastic it's picking up distortion; and that is said as a former vinyl junkie.

I'm quite glad the days of me having to fork out a small fortune for rare music are over, when music is a simple download away, with even CD's being much cheaper given the record companies have been brought to account by the internet, and mysteriously now selling new releases at half the price they did in the nineties. Weird that, eh?

Times are much better now :)

Nice video though, cool link

This is a normal post Dunno about the quality
but I still like vinyl, mostly because of the charm it has putting it on and having to turn it. Also the fact that used records usually costs around one quid at yard sales and fleamarkets:) found some Kiss the other day, which made me smile

This is a normal post Each to their own at the end of the day
I have mixed memories about vinyl; sure there was a certain thrill to hunting down the rare stuff and the joy of finding it, but I don't miss then having to part with huge wads of cash like the £60 on an Ed Lincoln LP, (***I HAVE JUST DOWNLOADED FOR FREE BECAUSE A CERTAIN B3TARD IS SO COOL***) the £75 on a Stone Alliance LP for one track (Sweetie Pie) off the top of my head, and christ knows how much more I paid on Trio Mocoto LPs. And I don't miss the space a huge LP collection takes in your flat or home! I had to plan a living room around mine once, which was when I started to realize it was all getting a little ridiculous

These days it simply seems more convenient to spend five minutes surfing the net for the obscure stuff, if you know where to go; it's generally out there somewhere, if you can't buy it on a CD, and obviously easier to store

This is a normal post in truth, this is something i also do
but the guys i know who have spent the last 20 years hunting down that rare peddlers 45 get REALLY pissed off when i play it from my ipod.

still... stone alliance on vinyl. i'm jealous as fuck.

This is a normal post It got nicked outside the HQ club in Camden Lock Yard with the cream of my LP collection
because a stupid bint helping me to move stuff to a cab left it on the staircase

that, Sir, is when I finally gave up on vinyl :(

This is a normal post Honestly
I'm not into rarities. It's when I stumble over something I think is cool that I pick it up. I understand why one would collect rare LP's, but my finances at the moment aren't impressive *cough - student*, so I'll leave it at fleamarkets

This is a normal post fleamarkets are cool
This took twenty years to track down, fruitlessly on vinyl; finally on the internet for free; given it's not on CD; the artist's loss, I am not prepared to wait another twenty years growing old for it to be released

hence why I love the internet

This is a normal post i get your point about quality,
but sadly most digital files out there are actually just 128kbps mp3 files, which really don't sound great. vinyl, however, is a wonderfully tactile medium whereby you can really read the music on the disc (so mixing is a joy, as opposed to a hassle), and i am lamenting the loss of my decks right now.

This is a normal post I have a scratched to fuck original copy of dance to the music by sly and the family stone
and when i stick it on the turntable it blasts the fucking house down, the cd version i have just doesn't do that, there seems no plausable reason for it it just does.

This is a normal post Unfortunately the majority of CDs seem to be recorded
with many clipping errors, in pursuit of loudness.

Mobile Fidelity vinyl FTW IMO.
