Stupid idea.

This is a normal post based on his hand positions
I would say he's typing so slowly because he's never actually learned to type.

This is a normal post That is also a possibility.
I don't know if it's a sign of age, but typing fast was such a thing of honor for me. As was penmanship for my father. I suppose my kids will say "that kid doesn't know how to use his thumbs to communicate"

This is a normal post ^This
Learning to touch-type in the 70's (as a kid) means I can still totally freak people at work out by having a conversation with them whilst totally ignoring what I type. Still I'm nowhere near as fast with a query as I used to be with this:

This is a normal post I sort of do that
although I seem to have a typing buffer - which I can empty while talking to someone, but can't refill. So after 30 seconds or so I run out of things I was going to type and have to either stop typing and go fully over to conversation, or stop talking and go back to what I was doing.

This is a normal post Drives the missus crazy when she's talking to me and I'm running through chords and scales on the guitar
She doesn't understand: that is how musicians always converse! We cannot do it without farting about on our instrument!

This is a normal post I got out my typewrite the other day
as I needed to type up some labels for my electromechanical phone exchange.

I was shocked at how slow I'd become at typing on a real typewriter! All these computer keyboards have sent me soft!

As a result, I've decided to use the typewriter more - and for want of anything better to do I've been using it as if it were twitter. I type 2 line "tweets" on it whenever something occurs to me

Then when I've filled a page, I drop it in my shredder.

An entirely pointless exercise, but well... why not?

This is a normal post Two points to make here:
1) It is, as chompedhomas pointed out, a non QWERTY keyboard converting into QWERTY, so maybe it does have a slightly tenuous use for someone who doesn't want to use QWERTY.
2) The arms wedge together at about 1.05, so it is indeed as shit as a real typewriter. Go team iTypewriter!!
