many is the time on /links (as well as /talk and /board on occasion) where suddenly a single link can expand beyond all rational scale and turn into a full blown - and rather heated - debate.
This can sometimes detract from some of the fun stuff that gets put up on there, and many great links go unchecked and unanswered because people are too busy arguing.
On. The. Internet.
As some of these links are about serious, and 'interesting' things which do have relevance on /links, it might be nice to have somewhere people can go if they want to create a new thread or topic of discussion about serious issues, or to continue discussion from a link put up. OK, so maybe b3ta isn't exactly the right place for that sort of thing, but it's happening here anyway, mostly on a Friday, on /links.
No name calling, and no finger pointing here, just a request that somewhere be opened up for the large, expanding threads that open up whenever something serious is touched upon here. The 'serious' b3ta users then have somewhere to go and put the world to rights, while still being able to enjoy the rest of b3ta, and the rest of us can just enjoy the fun shit on /board, /talk and /links.

edit: and as Madam Marlboro rightfully pointed out below, we have an 'off-topic' board - could this perhaps be pushed a bit more for the kind of thing mentioned above? It would save the creation of yet another board then.
