I don't understand the attraction
Smaug says: Ricky Gervais. Lesbian pr0n. Going into a crowded bar, purely because it's crowded. All these things seem to be popular with everybody else, but I just can't work out why. What leaves you cold just as much as it turns everyone else on?

Sorry, I'm going to sound sanctimonious here
but I don't understand the attraction in not being able to understand that one man's meat is another man's poison.
I mean, I empathise with a lot of the posts in this QoTW, because a lot of what people think is shit, I think is shit as well.
However, if it's not actually hurting anyone - sod it, go for it. If spending your life on World of Warcraft or going to see X Factor Live or modding your Nova floats your boat - you do it.
Frankly, we're fucking lucky we have the choice what to like and dislike. There's something out there for everyone now - we can pick and choose our entertainments and friends and foods and sexual stimulations.
Have your prejudices by all means but someone is not a cunt, or an idiot, for liking something you don't. Saying any activity you don't like is a waste of time misses the point somewhat; it's not your time that others waste.
Not liking the majority of what passes for popular culture doesn't make you a better person - and it needn't make you a bitter one, either...

Yep - with you on this
I find the whole "X is crap" rather than "I don't like X because" quite annoying.

"a lot of what people think is shit, I think is shit as well."
Come on then, let's hear it... Get off the fence and lay your cards on the table, hippy! Never mind this "let's all be tolerant of each other" shite, that's for real life - this is the place to have a fucking good ol' angry British rant!

Mostly agree
but there are poeple out there who do waste my time just by being who they are where they are, sometime intentionally, sometimes they wouldn't have a clue. Fuck them....fuck them all.

I mostly agree with you
Except for things along the lines of the 'mass demand' for shitty shows like X factor, TV soaps, any kind of celebrity-stalking Heat-magazine thing, and terrible plastic manufactured SHIT music mimed by horrible painted toothpicks of women, or pretentious 'gangsta' men in trousers three sizes too big.
I think that people enjoying these things DOES affect me, it DOES waste my time because with all that crap on TV, and all that lowering of standards in music makes it so much harder to find good, intelligent, INTERESTING shows, or for the music made by MUSICIANS to get their tracks out beyond their little circle of myspace friends.
I hate how TV has been reduced to catering for the lowest common denominator. Radio too, actually. I hate that the appeal for such shit on our airwaves has pushed aside the vast majority of intelligent programming.

Oh, absolutely
It's much harder to find good music now than it was in the good old days when there were 3 channels with 1 hour of music programming a week, and a choice of Radio 1 or your local 30 songs on repeat commercial station. Do me a favour. Back then you still took what was peddled to you (by Simon Bates instead of Simon Cowell), or if not, you had to hunt through obscure fanzines and wait for gritty cassettes to arrive in the post. Now, you get crap pushed at you, but the whole world of music is available at your fingertips, instantly. Let those who like it have their X Factor, I'm not going back to the way it used to be!

Ah yes
but people who don't like what I do ARE cunts, and as such I am fully justified in PUNCHING THEM IN THE FACE.
So that's your argument done for, isn't it?
