Common
Freddy Woo writes, "My wife thinks calling the front room a lounge is common. Worse, a friend of hers recently admonished her daughter for calling a toilet, a toilet. Lavatory darling. It's lavatory."
My own mother refused to let me use the word 'oblong' instead of 'rectangle'. Which is just odd, to be honest.
What stuff do you think is common?

Has anyone else noticed they have their own 'accent'?

Yes
You are so right, it makes me want stab their throats with a fork to stop them talking like that.
Or is that just me?

Yes!!!!
It really pisses me off. Especially the more well-to-do girls, they drag out their words into this whinging kind of pathetic sound. I got on our uni's student bus last night for the first time in ages and i was cringing the whole way. Listening to their crappy stories about 'random' things and believing that drinking prowess is a measure of social status, twats!

I went to a design school
among all the ridiculously dolled up fashion design, etc. students there were just 1 group that truly stood out.
Us. The jewellery designers. When you work in a full leather apron, earmuffs and goggles and reguarily splash your clothes with acid (which makes them go all holey next time you wash them), you don't wear your best clothes to school.
They thought THEY were ostracising US. We knew the truth.

Not all students are bad...
Some of us even feel a bit silly in amongst all the "randomers" and "lawlerz" and so on.
