This is a question Crap Gadgets

We wanted a monkey butler and bought one off eBay. Imagine our surprise when we found it was just an ordinary monkey with rabies. Worse: It had no butler training at all. Tell us about your duff technology purchases.

Thanks to Moonbadger for the suggestion

cappuccino frother
those stupid little whisk things that make your cappuccino frothy.
for about 2 minutes.
it's not the same as buying a proper cappuccino, not by a long way. it got used twice, before being consigned to the car boot sale.

There's a trick
put the cappuccino in the micro wave for 20 sec, and the foam will remain solid for anything up to 2 hours.

Bialetti Mukka Express Capuccino & Latte Maker

A stove top expresso maker with a steaming doohicky which makes a very very good latte and good Capuccino, it's not as good as a properly made one but it's still pretty impressive

Its simples.
While the kettle is on, zap some milk for a minute or two. Then whisk the milk before pouring into the coffee.

But..
While it's crap for what it's originally intended, I found a wonderful use for one. The missus has a gastric band and as a result has difficulty with fizzy drinks. The stupid little whisk is about the most effective way of de-fizzing drinks I've yet found :)
