This is a question Crap Gadgets

We wanted a monkey butler and bought one off eBay. Imagine our surprise when we found it was just an ordinary monkey with rabies. Worse: It had no butler training at all. Tell us about your duff technology purchases.

Thanks to Moonbadger for the suggestion

The SNES 'Scope'
Surely the worst console peripheral ever devised. What genius at Nintendo decided that the perfect follow-up to the NES Zapper should be a clunky, shoulder-mounted drainpipe?

90s kids love bazookas
that's marketing 101.

Although since I never had a super scope, it still holds a faint and irrational allure for me. I'm 28.

Hunt for Red October
SNES scope was bought specifically for that one game. It had one level where it was used. It was almost impossible (the level - not the game. The game was ENTIRELY impossible).

It was awesome.

What about the gun thingy for the mega drive, it built up like a sniper rifle, you could use it as a slightly large blaster type gun, then you clipped on a shoulder stock, a scope, and a very unnecessary barrel extension, supremely useless gadgetry.

Duck Hunt
was awesome when you could bazooka ducks out of the sky. The zapper was just too simple.
