We wanted a monkey butler and bought one off eBay. Imagine our surprise when we found it was just an ordinary monkey with rabies. Worse: It had no butler training at all. Tell us about your duff technology purchases.

I should have added
It was a leaflet/brochure which for you paid £9.99. It was in the back of Viz and probably a few tabloids - prime places for suckers to lap it up.
