This is a question My Biggest Disappointment

Often the things we look forward to the most turn out to be a huge let down. As Freddy Woo puts it, "High heels in bed? No fun at all. Porn has a lot to answer for."

Well, Freddy, you are supposed to get someone else to wear them.

What's disappointed you lot?

« Go Back

Life begins when your 40 they all say.
Well I'm 43 and if my life doesn't get interesting soon I may have to go and get something pierced again.

And there's only so many things I can put rings in that my boss won't see.
(, Sun 29 Jun 2008, 20:00, 224 replies)
I don't know
you could put rings down each side, that's got to give you at least 4 or 5 more inches of piercable area?
(, Sun 29 Jun 2008, 20:04, closed)
Yes Al.
But I don't want my genitalia looking like a curtain rail.
(, Sun 29 Jun 2008, 20:07, closed)
Oh don't do that...
it'll look like you're getting ready to hang curtains.

EDIT: Ha! We think the same way!

There are further comments to make on the back of that one, but I'm far too nice to make them.
(, Sun 29 Jun 2008, 20:08, closed)
But
you could hang silk scarves on it and look all alluring while ostensibly naked.
(, Sun 29 Jun 2008, 20:08, closed)
Have you tattooed anything?

And what if you shag your boss? Your secrets will be discovered.
(, Sun 29 Jun 2008, 20:11, closed)
Oh! btw
Did I mention that getting your thruppeny bits pierced fucking hurts.
(, Sun 29 Jun 2008, 20:11, closed)
Or it'd save you getting the knot right on your clothes when belly dancing...
Then again, would hurt if someone got excited and gave it a yank.
(, Sun 29 Jun 2008, 20:12, closed)
@Clendrix
I don't think my mum would like it if I shagged my boss.......he's my step-day. EW!
(, Sun 29 Jun 2008, 20:12, closed)
threepenny bit?
i'd always thought it was a tuppence. yours must be worth more than mine!

still, we're both better than my friend ginger who calls it a ha'penny.

maybe BECAUSE hers is ginger?
(, Sun 29 Jun 2008, 20:14, closed)
@BGB
*shrieks* - oops! How inappropriate of me! Doubt your mum would be impressed.

Can't imagine getting pierced down there. Very brave of you.
(, Sun 29 Jun 2008, 20:16, closed)
@Clendrix
Actually getting the nips done hurt much more.

@Rachelswipe - Thruppeny bit, tuppence, half a crown....it's all cunt : )
(, Sun 29 Jun 2008, 20:19, closed)
Oh dear...
yes, I suppose they're worse.

*plans to not plan to get pierced*
(, Sun 29 Jun 2008, 20:24, closed)
Mine was good
but now I feel inadequate as all three of my piercings are in my ears.
(, Sun 29 Jun 2008, 20:32, closed)
Evening Ancrenne
Had a lovely weekend. I now have a clean house and a bit flat bit of rubble to build my patio on.

And i've learned that havig your genitals pierced hurts more than your nipples.

Frankly, I'm glad I only got my nose and ear pierced.

But the tattoos hurt more.
(, Sun 29 Jun 2008, 20:32, closed)
Hi ancrenne.
Yesterday was poo. Today I purchased a very large shiny red handbag so I'm on a bit of a handbag high at the moment. I may need a glass of wine to come down later.
(, Sun 29 Jun 2008, 20:32, closed)
Al's not paying attention.
Nips hurt more than other.

And tattoos are bloody painful because they take so long. At least piercings are over in a flash.
(, Sun 29 Jun 2008, 20:34, closed)
Oops
Sorry BGB, wasn't reading closely enough.

Do they hold your nipples in a clamp before piercing, or do they just put it on the edge of a table?
(, Sun 29 Jun 2008, 20:36, closed)
Aha!
Feel slightly better - tattoo didn't really hurt.

Perhaps I'll stop there and pretend I'm really hard and cool (instead of progressing with piercings and crying like a girl).
(, Sun 29 Jun 2008, 20:37, closed)
Good evening all you lovely people.
I always seem to foget I have my nipples pierced until in gets cold.
I didn't find it painful when I got them done though...Is it wrong that I ummm, actually quite liked it?
(, Sun 29 Jun 2008, 20:37, closed)
@Al
Edge of a table wtf! They don't put it in a vice you know. Their held in a clamp.
(, Sun 29 Jun 2008, 20:37, closed)
@clendrix
but where was your tattoo?

The one on my shoulder didn't really hurt, but the one in the small of my back was agonizing.
(, Sun 29 Jun 2008, 20:38, closed)
On my wrist...
but yes, my friend had one in the small of her back and nearly killed our lovely tattoo man.
(, Sun 29 Jun 2008, 20:40, closed)
Oooo! I want one on my wrist.
I can't really get it done until I know for definite what's happening with my future employment.

The one on my back was agony. Like having a blowtorch on there for 40 minutes.
(, Sun 29 Jun 2008, 20:42, closed)
@ancrenne
do you have 2 and 3, or are you very lopsided with ear piercings?
(, Sun 29 Jun 2008, 20:51, closed)
hello miss ancrenne
oooo a drink is just what I need about now!

EDIT: You are a brave lady for piercing yourself...Ouch!!
(, Sun 29 Jun 2008, 20:56, closed)
Owwwww!
*shudders*

Don't know why that makes me so squeamish. I used to stick safety pins through my arms when I was young and depressed. That doesn't faze me at all.

Strange really.
(, Sun 29 Jun 2008, 20:57, closed)
Spain are winning
which I'm sure you all really care about.

Ooh, ancrenne, self-piercing. Worth it for the vodka consumption, I suppose.
(, Sun 29 Jun 2008, 20:58, closed)
@clendrix
deservedly so I would say. Almost made it 2-0 there as well.
(, Sun 29 Jun 2008, 20:59, closed)
@clendrix
Your not one of those strange women that like football are you? Wonky DNA and all that.
(, Sun 29 Jun 2008, 20:59, closed)
Ning all
I've got fairly standard piercings as well, 6 in each ear although I don't wear them anymore, nose, tongue and belly. Three tattoos, none of them hurt.

I really want to get my ear done again, but the insidey bit that's like a nubbin where the arch is if that makes sense.
(, Sun 29 Jun 2008, 21:00, closed)
All piercings
make me squeamish. Even watching someone put in an earring makes me squirm slightly.

As for tattoos, I don't like them at all. Why spoil perfectly good skin by dyeing it permanently?

I sound like a right grumpy git tonight. Sorry!

when K2k6 were a lad...

No, I know what you mean. Took me 15 years to make up my mind about my tattoo. Glad I got it, but I do sometimes look at it and can't believe I did.
(, Sun 29 Jun 2008, 21:11, closed)
Hello everyone!
*Waves*

I'm dead boring me - I've only got the one piercing, in the left ear. And I had to be cajoled and bullied into that...

No tattoos, 'cos I'm a bit, well, squeamish about that sort of thing. Although if I were to get one, I know what it would be - it's horribly geeky, but also suitably vague that no-one other than the geekiest of geeks would get the reference...

More wine? Don't mind if I do...
(, Sun 29 Jun 2008, 21:11, closed)
Yes, I know
I realise I'm in the minority, BGB, but I think tattoos are awful! Nothing personal though, folks.

I'm going to be in a documentary that my friend is in. I was filmed on friday getting rather drunk. I'm cringing thinking about the interview bit I did! No idea what I said, I was quite slurry and had mascara running down my face.

Bye al
Hopefully see you Friday.

What's everyone up to this evening? I've been sorting through more stuff for eBay and filling out all the admin rubbish for work as a new starter thing. Relaxing with crisps and pear cider now

*giggles and waves*
Evening all :o)

On the original subject, I have 3 piercings in each lug and one in my nose. I currently sport 3.5 tattoos, 3 of which are my own *special* designs. The "half" tat was meant to be a heart with a rose going through it; 2 factors made it go tits-up. Firstly, Ozzie (Jobson of Byker Bridge - that's how hard I was 20 years ago) happened to hit a nerve, causing my leg to have a spakattack. Also, he ad-libbed some yellow into the heart instead of doing it all red.

"What the fuck is that?" I screached, "Fucking adipose tissue????!!"

The result was extra thick black outlines and the thing looks like a fecking turnip.

Meh!
(, Sun 29 Jun 2008, 21:38, closed)
I've been watching the football
which makes me a social pariah as far as B3ta is concerned, but I like it and I'm not ashamed. Besides, Germany lost, so that's something we can share.

Despite my previously mentioned dislike of tattoos
I'm highly amused that Tourette's has one which looks like a turnip!

I love it though.

The thing about tattoos though
is their permanence. At least with a piercing, you can take out the stud/ring/whatever and it will close up itself. But if you subsequently decide you don't want a tattoo, it's a bit of a palaver to get rid of it.

I do have access to a large laser though...

I like wine
I've had some more this evening.

On Friday night we had had a few and went to the kebab shop for a chicken kebab - see...still fairly healthy, it's grilled and comes with salad. I'm not counting the amount of wine that went with it....that's good for you too.

Anyway, we'd been to the Tesco extra first and picked up a few 'essentials' (wine) and unfortunately because we didn't have the spanky new hemp reusable bags they palmed us off with the crap plakky bags which were clearly pre-ripped.

So, we go into the kebab shop smelling like a vineyard and clanking like a pair of ghosts on speed. Then the fucking bag decides to split and spill out all the bottles of wine. Arse.

At that point I decided the best approach would be to allow PJM to pick them up while I texted everyone I could think of about our wine and kebab habit.

Ah...happy days.

*EDIT* We got home to discover my kebab was missing!!!

I sent PJM back on his bike to fetch it. He wobbled all the way down the road and I stayed in drinking (more) wine and farting on the sofa while he was out....I wouldn't do it in his presence....I'm a lady!

It did make me laugh, I'll admit. A bright spot on the chav bus from hell back from Newcastle after a night out with some old colleagues...

Of course the wine was undamaged!
Dear god! Otherwise it would have been a disaster!

@Becky
Maybe you said already, but where are your tattoos? On your bum cheeks or something?

And ancrenne, while the laser wouldn't exactly knock aeroplanes out of the sky, it would blind people several miles away were it to be fired out of a window. And focused to a spot, it will burn holes in lots of things.

I used a similar one a while back, and it would set fire to paper without even being focused.

OK, bedtime for me soon.
(, Sun 29 Jun 2008, 22:43, closed)
I'm going to attempt something crazy:
be in bed by midnight. This has less to do with turning-into-a-pumpkin fears and more to do with the fact that I'm knackered.

If anyone's chatting tomorrow, see you then!
(, Sun 29 Jun 2008, 22:45, closed)
Ooh, could you strap it to a shark head K2k6?
Mine are two at the top of my arm and on my lower back.

@Becky
Conceivably, yes. But the power supply would cause a bit of a restriction!

I was actually hoping your tattoos were somewhere more interesting. Because I was then going to invoke the 'photos or it didn't happen' rule.

Never mind.

OK, I'm off to bed. Night all. Chat in the morning, if I get the time.

It was hideous. I had planned on getting the slightly classier (and 30 minutes quicker for bladder reasons) bus to a neighbouring town, then getting a taxi. Instead, the quicker bus appeared not to be running, so I got the bus that takes an hour and wished I'd just got a taxi back, despite the fact it would have cost £30 minimum...

The karaoke chavs at the back were the limit. If I hear 'Amarillo' one more time...

Re Tatoos & Piercings: It appears ancrenne & clendrix have waited 15 years. Looks like I’ve got 5 years left. I know exactly what I want and where. It’s just that I never get round to doing it.

(, Sun 29 Jun 2008, 22:59, closed)
Twas very nice thanks
Didn't do a great deal though as I cashed the wage cheque and was told that I wasn't allowed to draw on it yesterday, but I can tomorrow, so have gone over my overdraft limit a bit, so it better cash tomorrow.

Did two hours cleaning of the kitchen and it was all sparkly and lovely. Made a giant Lasagne, most of which is now in the freezer in bits to take to work for Tuesday or Wednesday - they pay me to make lasagne for them as it's awesomeness lol - went back in there today and cuntflatmate has trashed the place again.

@ancrenne
Yes. I managed to curb my b3ta habit and stay off most of Friday and the weekend.

Got some job applications sent off and worked a bit on my project.

Also have a room booked in Exeter too.

it's a bogstandard recipe
just I add a ton of cheese and bacon to it to make it extra yummy :)

Edit: THis is the daft cunt that flushed newspaper down the toilet yesterday and then looked at me blankly when I explained that it makes it block if you do such retarded things.

@beckx
Wage cheque? I've always had my salary paid directly into my bank-account.
(, Sun 29 Jun 2008, 23:05, closed)
Arse...
It's not there. One of the drawbacks of having only terrestrial telly is that you miss out on some fantastic geeky stuff sometimes...

*ahem*

Where's me wine? Or should I switch to Ouzo? I love Ouzo, me.
(, Sun 29 Jun 2008, 23:07, closed)
I'm multitasking a bit
so I may be sporadic here.

I'm hoping to get some interviews in the West of England to co-incide with the Exeter bash.

@ancrenne: b3ta is what remains when you're too tired to do owt else.

I've managed to get stuff done by avoiding b3ta. And yours?

Spakkaman
it's because I've only been there 2 weeks and they've not yet received my starter pack which contains copies of my bank details. Plus copies of my passport, degree certificate and a lovely long health questionnaire. All of which I had to redo today as Royal mail has lost it.

Edit: Hi Mr Z

Its
not been a bad weekend... Friday a friend of mine handed in part of his thesis so we ended up drinking by the river until 4am. Last night ended up in Tooting Bec for a curry... today has been slow.

Ah the signature is a few days old - from last weekend.

I'm feeling in a happy fluffy bunny mood tonight.

I was in our garden earlier on today and a woman came by with her kid - a boy of about 3 - dressed in a panda costume - complete with panda hat and face paint. Even as jaded and cynical as I am that was pretty cute.

Well I have no glass, but I go have a bottle of lime juice so I will raise that!

Not
quite the most surreal thing I've seen here.

Last year a guy who lived down in town used to ride a unicycle... all relatively normal until one day I saw him on his way to a fancy dress party.

Dressed as a crocodile.

On his unicycle.

Ooh Ancrenne
was going to ask you, have you got this yet?

Thought it would appeal to your hippy sensibilities.

Edit: Unicycles and crocodiles. How did he manage the tail?

I got topped off with some more wine. But the Ouzo still beckons.

Did I mention I love Ouzo..?
(, Sun 29 Jun 2008, 23:38, closed)
Ouzo
thats a dangerous drink... although last night I did end up sampling some home brewed Bangladeshi moonshine... it makes ouzo look like water...

Surreal things
I once saw someone driving what looked like a sofa with a leopard-skin cover on a main road.

@ancrenne
Thanks for the offer of vodka. Unfortunately, real vodka and virtual glasses don't mix so well.

I would never "abandon" vodka.
"Kindly donate" maybe...

We kept getting strange looks on Saturday
Three of us sitting in kilts, in the middle of the Northern Irish Countryside, at a spar, with lots of farmers turning up to get diesel, and staring at us just because we were sitting attempting to make sandwiches in the car.

Davros...
I'd love some.
I fucking love Ouzo!
*grins*

What're you licking my arm for though?

What were you wearing under it PoD?
Evening Kaol :)

I like that one Spakkaman, but I fear I'd change it to something rude and then have to get my computer sent away to be fixed or something.

Surrealness is good. Although if the pictures of me in drag get out then certain careers are dead to me.

"if things work fine, why make them more complicated?"

Indeed. I've had some ideas for piercings that make 'things' unnecessarily complicated.

Done a lot of train travel this weekend, which is a bit lame.

But it was well worth it.

Had lots of nice drinks. Bloody Mary for breakfast today was particularly excellent.

So yeah, I'm happy, thanks.

Disappointed?
You would rather I exposed myself to many people I didn't know?

My flatmate managed that once. "Showed" himself to a guy and girl sitting at the side of a hall while he was dancing at a ceilidh. The girl looked horrified.

Does it colour the tabs randomly or does it give them different colours according which website they're from? It's supposed to be incompatible with Tab Mix Plus so I won't try it out until that's fixed.

Kidding Mr Z

I just had the chance to redeem myself with the cuntflatmate. She knocked on my door and panic stricken told me there's a huge spider in the bathroom. So I go into the bathroom and sure enough there's a great big hairy arachnid next to the toilet taking a wander. I turn to her, look blankly and said "Well it's not mine" and ambled back to my room.

She gave me the same look after I told her about the newspaper she'd killed the toilet with, so figured it was only fair.

Spakka, they're random pretty colours.

Edit: Kaol, I'm tempted to bring home something nasty from work to leave in there to scare her, but wouldn't want to scare the wee beastie, so not worth it.

@Becky
I dunno... if I were you it might be a good idea. I haven't checked my lottery ticket yet.

Good work on the housemate. I'm slowly letting my housemates bean plant die. I keep on forgetting to water it. The bastard is in Greece after getting smashed last week. 2 weeks left here... thank god.

Also, mosquitoes not only bite, they wake me up in the middle of the night with an annoying buzzing sound.

G'night sleepy people.
Mr. Z, no, I created a defective strain of tomatoes that were unable to ripen.
They then cross-pollenated with the other tomatoes, and created a load of crappy, useless hybrids.
So they had to incinerate all the tomato plants in the propagator.

With regard to Firefox addons, I love this: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/974

I'm disappointingly vanilla in my piercings and just have two in each earlobe (if I wasn't trying to get a job I think I'd get another row, or my nose done). I'd love to get wings tattooed on my shoulder blades, but I think you'd have to knock me out for the time it would take because I'm such a baby with pain. Mr Maladicta, on the other hand, wants a huge fuckoff dragon on his back (he loves dragons like a fat kid loves cake.)

Just out of interest, how old were you when that came out?

I was 16. I remember going to a teenaged party at the time. I was usually shy and just stayed talking to a few friends. When that song came on, I just got up and danced. Loads of people loved it, but I'm not sure if it was for the dancing or just simply because I jumped out of my shell.

Wiki tells me it came out in mid-1990, so I'd have been 4, nearly 5. I really don't remember much music from back then though - the other half downloaded a whole torrent of early '90s trance and was amazed when the earliest I remembered was 1998...
