Those f-ing softies think "gas" is dear when it reaches $5/US gallon. Here it is already $8.44 per US Gallon, and has been for months.

I'm sure once you factor in the fuel consumption of american cars.
You'll find that they're probably paying about the same in a lot of cases.

This is utterly irrelevant though,
If Americans drive cars that use more fuel and that ups their MPG, that's their problem and the can change it. They still pay less per gallon of fuel, and that's the important measure because it's the one the driver has no control over.

Seriously, the Seppoes have this weird idea that 16 fluid ounces = 1 pint. So eight US pints = .8 UK gallons.

So they pay $6.25 for REAL gallons, as used by MEN. Then they burn it at 25 mpg.

General driving = 49.2 miles/gallon

My 50L. autogas tank filled up
gets me about 400km. and cost about AUD$25 a pop. I put about $20 petrol in a month (it's dual-fuel and needs the petrol for the injectors).
The first autogas car I bought many years ago cost .20c a litre to fill. It's nearly quadrupled and we still export natural gas to the rest of the world.
