Correct, apart from two things1. I am a scientist. I do not play computer games.
2. Hoverboards* are really fucking easy to make. Google it. You can have a cordless one for about £100 if you put the work in, but it will only really work on smooth(ish) surfaces and probably won't go on water. Oh, and it will have no brakes.
*As in "minituarised personal hovercraft"
If I had something approaching a workshop here, I'd build you one for £250.

I'd say that amongst geeks the traditional hoverboard would be like the one from Back to the Future.However, my comment was related to the recent protein thing that scientists had been unable to solve until it was released as a puzzle in a computer game and was subsequently solved within 10 weeks!
