This is a question Hypocrisy

Overheard the other day: "I've told you before - stop swearing in front of the kids, for fuck's sake." Your tales of double standards please.

me and ebay ticket sellers
people who buy tickets for gigs and pay about #35 for them, then put them on ebay for hundreds. i hate you. all of you. it should be illegal.

so, how many tickets have i bought from you in the past 12 months? always telling myself that if i'm going to go, i might as well splash out for really decent seats, and therefore buying into your hype.

let's see... snow patrol, #150 each. kings of leon, #145 each. counting crows, #105 each. the killers, #130 each. coldplay, #100 each. prince (vip), #175 each.

i hate you. but i'll continue to buy tickets from you at topwhack prices, therefore propagating it and making the prices even higher.

What is this
strange # currency you use of teh eBays?

Think I see the problem
You have no taste in music. Why see coldplay live when you could just shut your head in a car door repeatedly.
(, Sun 22 Feb 2009, 22:48, closed)
because
the gig came with booze and dinner with friends. the car door just wasn't such a good deal.
(, Sun 22 Feb 2009, 23:01, closed)
I'd still rather shut my head in a door
seeing coldplay would ruin drinking and seeing friends.

the forum crew of an unamed festy i go to
make sure that the touts really struggle to sel on ebay. all the usual tricks (my mistake my zero key sticks i wouldnt have offered 10000 pounds for a ticket. i can't pay it, oops etc) through to barrages of emails. Seems to work too.

i would never do anything like that of course. i am a good boy.

But its amazing how fast folk accept the ticket price and postage for an easy life

Nice one!
That is a genius idea.

the AC/DC O2 tickets
were £600 on Ebay within an hour of going on sale....

Too much even for the mighty 'DC, I thought.

New website for ticket touts
uk.news.yahoo.com/5/20090223/tuk-just-the-ticket-new-website-for-tout-45dbed5.html

I'm sure providing touts with a website (er, hang on, don't they already have eBay?) will put a stop to price gouging. Oh yes.

And just how does the CPA think it will police those touts who forget to use that site?

O_o
you bought a ticket for PRINCE?
you fucking FAIL.
(, Mon 23 Feb 2009, 12:16, closed)
I know it's not a nice practice...
... but we do live in a capitalist country. If goods are scarce they're going to change hands for whatever price the market dictates.

What's the alternative? Let people who have the time to queue for hours - rather than people who have money - get them? Doesn't seem any better. I guess the only fair way is a lottery.

Little tip[ for buying alte tickets.
If you missed the initial selling and are prepared to miss the gig then I find it best to turn up at the gig. wait 30 mins to an hour after the doors have opened then try buying your tickets from the toutes.

This doesn;t work for festivals though.

With the exception of Snow Patrol and Prince, I have seen all the above, and have on more than one occasion bought these tickets off eBay. You obviously have good taste in music! I wish eBay would stop people selling tickets, then there would be fairer ways of getting tickets (like from fans with spares, via fansites etc). Having said that, I wouldn'tb have missed The Killers for the world.
When I went to see Kings of Leon, the touts outside Brixton were offering us huge amounts of money for our tickets, but there is no way I would have parted with them, and I felt sorry for the fans who would have had to pay even more than what we were offered to get anything off the touts.
I'm actually seeing The Killers tonight and I can't wait. They were so good last time I saw them, I hope they are at least as good again.
