Those "units" were some kind of arbitrary bullshit anyway.
Unless you're deluded it's perfectly possible to know how much is too much and in my experience it's usually about half what we tell ourselves is an acceptable quantity.
And that's what I tell myself every night as I drink myself to sleep.

I saw my GP today, he asked how much I drink,
I said 'On average, about 4 pints per day'

Given the entitled stupidity of this government, and their tendency to pander to the whims of the incompetent and the reactionary, I wouldn't be a bit surprised if some plan for total alcohol prohibition comes in before 2014.

It's OK
you can hit about 45-50 units a week before it's worse for you than being teetotal. Assuming you use the same set of stats the BMA used to set the 21 a week. Although the low point of the curve is actually about 28ish, it's just that it's automatically assumed that people are too stupid to follow advice honestly.
