This is a question Mix Tapes

Everyone's made a mix tape (or CD, USB stick, or whatever kids do these days). Mostly to get in someone else's pants, but we're sure there are other, lesser, reasons too.

So, who did you make it for and why?
And... what was on it?

Today
So, sorry to sound like the thirty-something that I am, but what's the appropriate medium for giving someone some music you like these days? I was just thinking a few days ago about a long-time friend, and how we used to make mix tapes for each other in the early 90s. We're in once-every-few-months contact these days, and I'd like to share* my current musical tastes with her. But an actual cassette is kind of archaic, and a physical CD-R might be, too. Sending a list of iTunes links or something sounds impersonal and cheesy, as you're making the recipient do the legwork. I know this is a little OT, but this QotW seems to be dying a little early, so I just thought I'd ask.

* Disclaimer: This is not part of some stalking scheme, lest that's still on your minds from last week. We're both happily married.

Well...
...when I first got together with my boyfriend (just over 2 years ago) he made me a mix tape, a proper one, and I loved it (and still do) cassette isn't that passe!

burn the cd
on itunes which also designs a reasonably funky sleeve for it...

Well, I would (if I had the bendy beer tokens for it)
Buy her an iPod, and put the music on it that you want to give. They do a suitably girly pink iPod shuffle, which is only about £55. What say you?

Thanks
Okay...guess I just thought cassette/CD-R were a little more out of style than they are. Does that mean I'm just ahead of the times? ;)

@purplegod: Good idea for a guy trying to impress a girl...but that's a little steep for me to spend on a nice, platonic gesture for an old friend. To clarify the "we're both happily married" bit at the end of my original post, I meant "not to each other". Thanks, though!

@chase
CD-R it is then :)

And yeah, it seems I misinterpreted or something. I mean, it's not like a CD-R is a stone tablet...

iTunes does let you gift music, by the way. I've no idea how it works, but you can do the legwork your end and there you go.

Try this
Not the product I was trying to find, there's a better one out there, but hows about this for some retro geek-chic (may have ripped that off the advertising blurb)

^^^^
How shit are you at typing if writing "dwnld" is quicker than writing "download"? Personally I find trying to type "dwnld" is more difficult, because you have to actually think about it and hunt for the letters.

But hey, I'm over 30 so I guess I have rather old-fashioned ideas about the importance of communication.

On-Topic: I think you should give her a tape for old time's sake. Make a joke about it: "remember when . . . "
