I do not understand your problem with that record.
(it's called 'Surfin' Bird' by the way)

It's a great piece of frat/surf rock - I've versions by the Trashmen and the incomparable Ramones (whose choices of cover version material were almost always fucking superb).

It contains an interpolation of The Rivingtons: "Papa-Oom-Mow-Mow" if you care. Which you undoubtedly do not.

because in my head
it is sung by peter griffin on "family guy" and when seth macfarlane voices peter griffin, he gives him the most annoying nasal whiny voice ever.

Your sig made me laugh.
Poppet was all like "WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS?" when we watched that.

Did the Rivingtons not also release a single that was actually called "The Bird is the Word"?
Thus basically making Surfin' Bird a hybrid of "Bird is the Word" and "Papa-Oom-Mow-Mow"?

You may be correct in this.
EDIT Yes, you are. Your knowledge of ornithological records surpasses mine.

Do you not think so?

(, Tue 14 Dec 2010, 17:48, Reply)
I think I may have even heard both of them
And Surfin' Bird gives them the panacea of a more frenetic musical backing and frenzied delivery, which I think does them the world of good.

...youtube comes up trumps once again:

Both Papa-Oom-Mow-Mow and Surfin' Bird
were staples of my childhood listening thanks to my old man: I cannot recall having heard the other one although, of course, my childhood was A FUCKING LONG TIME AGO.
