Personally, it's 2.

The Black Adder tried a bit too hard and Rowan Atkinson didn't really define his character well enough. Although it had BRIAN BLESSED in it.

Blackadder the third had some good moments and Hugh Laurie was excellent.

Blackadder Goes Forth was a pretty solid series.

But Blackadder II properly set the template, and Miranda Richardson was just perfectly cast.

Evening Jeff.
I'm not long in from work. I think I'm turning into rachelswipe...
(, Tue 14 Dec 2010, 23:27, Reply)
how big are your boobs?

(, Tue 14 Dec 2010, 23:28, Reply)
Not as big as yours, fortunately!
Also, my partner of choice has never shat the bed and I have never accidentally exposed myself to the neighbours.
(, Tue 14 Dec 2010, 23:30, Reply)
Give it time.
Christmas is coming, there will be ample opportunity for excess then.

Or Christmas pudding.
Depending on how bad your guts are.

I don't feel 40 I have to say
which is maybe just as well.
(, Tue 14 Dec 2010, 23:43, Reply)
Do you feel 40?
No? Then it's just a number.
(, Tue 14 Dec 2010, 23:45, Reply)
Since my 30's and my divorce I have regressed, Jeff.
I now possess more toys than I did when I was five.

/may be slight exaggeration.
(, Tue 14 Dec 2010, 23:48, Reply)
So I've got toys to look forward to!
Yay!

What toys can I hope to get?
(, Tue 14 Dec 2010, 23:55, Reply)
In my case lots of Daleks :/
Obviously. I'm hoping to get the eleven Doctors set for Christmas. It's a good job the missus loves me.

Conversely, I am the easiest bloke in the world to buy for!
(, Wed 15 Dec 2010, 0:00, Reply)
Have you been to any conventions?

(, Wed 15 Dec 2010, 0:03, Reply)
Just the one
in Liverpool, in 1990. It was at the Adelphi hotel and was brilliant. My ex wife just looked bewildered for most of it. We sat at a table for dinner one night next to Nicholas Courtney who played the Brigadier.

There's one up here every November but I always seem to be booked whenever it happens. Maybe next year.
(, Wed 15 Dec 2010, 0:06, Reply)
I'm not a 'massive' fan, but I always watched when I was growing up.
I think the Kevin Sampson book, 'Away Days' has a passage in there (based on truth) about an encounter with Tom Baker.

The book isn't worth reading (although it is slightly better than the film of the same name, which really was shit).

Who are your top 3 Doctors then?

I'd go, Baker, Pertwee and the current one. In that order.
(, Wed 15 Dec 2010, 0:15, Reply)
Tom.
Apart from that I can't chose, although Matt Smith is bloody good. I like them all though.
(, Wed 15 Dec 2010, 0:41, Reply)
Agreed sir
Two it is. With III a close second. And Goes Forth, Third.
(, Tue 14 Dec 2010, 23:29, Reply)
i've never really seen any of it
but i have liked the little bits i have seen.
(, Tue 14 Dec 2010, 23:30, Reply)
Did you ever get round to watching The Inbetweeners?

(, Tue 14 Dec 2010, 23:31, Reply)
not yet........

(, Tue 14 Dec 2010, 23:37, Reply)
Or listened to a group of 15 year old lads
saying sexual swear words in a childish fashion repeatedly? Much the same experience.
(, Tue 14 Dec 2010, 23:38, Reply)
that's just off-topic, no?

(, Tue 14 Dec 2010, 23:39, Reply)
No, no, off topic is more like Cock! Knickers! Fanny!
Biscuits! Tea! Nazis! Zombies! Nazi Zombies! More cock! Your Mum! Monty hates everything except the things he doesn't!

And with the odd smattering of croissants.
(, Tue 14 Dec 2010, 23:42, Reply)

No, that's \talk. We're no less mature but just slightly older.
(, Tue 14 Dec 2010, 23:43, Reply)
I thank you for the 'slightly' older remark there, Mr trialprice.

(, Tue 14 Dec 2010, 23:46, Reply)
It was a touchy subject for me earlier this year as I entered my fourth decade

(, Tue 14 Dec 2010, 23:49, Reply)
NO WAI!
You too?
(, Tue 14 Dec 2010, 23:51, Reply)
better that she watch Blackadder
than the Inbetweeners. That program is shit
(, Tue 14 Dec 2010, 23:38, Reply)
I found the first series quite funny.
I don't expect many from round these parts to agree with me though.
(, Tue 14 Dec 2010, 23:40, Reply)
I get that some people
could relate to it, but there was literally nothing that rang a bell for me. It was just cringy and a bit boring
(, Tue 14 Dec 2010, 23:53, Reply)
I had a mate who genuinely though the first series was the best.
Some people, eh?

I went through a stage of sitting by Tony Robinson at football most weekend.
He was often at Ashton Gate with his kids, he is an all-round lovely bloke.
(, Tue 14 Dec 2010, 23:33, Reply)
If a player was being particularly shit that weekend
did you nudge Tony and exclaim in a knowing manner "I wonder where they DUG HIM UP FROM, TONY? Eh, eh?"
(, Tue 14 Dec 2010, 23:45, Reply)
He did quote a few things for the club as 'Baldrick'
Famously at a City v Rovers game, he did the half-time draw to which there was a cry of 'can we hear Baldrick sing? No, No! Can we hear Baldrick sing, we can't hear a fucking thing!'

He responded in kind with a 'yes you fucking can' ending and got load of grief in the local press. The same local press who didn't mention the on-pitch battle at the end of the game involving about 500. It was the worst in-ground trouble I've seen since the 80s!

He also did a few of Baldricks poems at various club evening (whilst dressed in character)

'Lee Matthews, Lee Matthews, when you scored, you were a hit, this very rarely happened, 'cos you were never fucking fit'

He had something for most of the squad.
