Morning
I think I'm the only person in the world that's looking forward to a Monday. It's my first full day off in weeks. I'm going to sit in my PJs, not leave the house, drink wine and veg out. Now that I've boasted, you may all bitch about going to work (or not).

Alt: You're taking me to a gig. Who are we going to see, where are we going and who's supporting?
(, Mon 10 Jan 2011, 7:15, 38 replies, latest was 15 years ago)
Not going to work
And I'm going to bitch about it because I wish I was - I dislike being unemployed. It's boring for the most part. Plus I have some sort of progress interveiw today. Didn't sleep much.

Alt Q. Modest Mouse. Best Coast and Belle and Sebastian Supporting.
(, Mon 10 Jan 2011, 7:31, Reply)
Meh, I haven't slept yet.
I don't have a real job though. I don't know you, do I? Hey. *waves*
(, Mon 10 Jan 2011, 7:34, Reply)
Ummm - nope. Not unless you changed names recently.
Used to be around more. Last time I really posted Bert Monkeysex was going a bit mad, and Roota was around more. Then I kinda drifted away for a bit and slowly drifted back.
(, Mon 10 Jan 2011, 7:36, Reply)
I've been here years and never changed names.
Hi then. Nice to internet meet you.
(, Mon 10 Jan 2011, 7:42, Reply)
Hi. Nice to internet meet you too.
Hmm - no-one seems to be awake this early. If it wasn't basicaly frozen over I'd be tempted to go for a walk or do something else equally healthy. As it is I think I'll sit in front of my laptop drinking tea....
(, Mon 10 Jan 2011, 7:50, Reply)
Needs more fuck off Bert.

(, Mon 10 Jan 2011, 8:30, Reply)
Fuck off Bert.
Enough?
(, Mon 10 Jan 2011, 8:31, Reply)
Just the right amount.

(, Mon 10 Jan 2011, 8:32, Reply)
You could have added that much Fuck off Bert.
Lazy you are.
(, Mon 10 Jan 2011, 8:36, Reply)
Ah, but I'm around at the right times, evidently!
Who's the progress interview with? Pauline and her pens?
(, Mon 10 Jan 2011, 7:51, Reply)
Basicaly, yes.
So far I've been fairly lucky with Jobcentre staff so this time I'll probably get the bastard lovechild of Pauline and her pens and a fanatical Daily Mail reader whose hatred for dolescum is only matched by their utter distain of young scruffy studenty types. How're you keeping anyways Roota?
(, Mon 10 Jan 2011, 7:58, Reply)
I'm good ta Fredz
Job's a bit shit because of cuts and stuff, but I'm ticking along alright.
*chews gums like Pauline*
(, Mon 10 Jan 2011, 7:59, Reply)
Yeah, think everyone's suffering cos of the cuts
One of my mates works for a hospital and they're already overworked, trouble is when people leave the department the hospital doesn't want to hire more staff - not so good! Ahh - Only had a few hours sleep! They're going to ask me loads of bollocks about incentivising my job oppurtunities and high impact jobsearch flow bollocks and I'm just going to have to nod and smile and hope I don't fall asleep :D
(, Mon 10 Jan 2011, 8:04, Reply)
You can come with me to see Pulled Apart By Horses at the Cluny in Newcastle tomorrow if you want.
They're acemans.
(, Mon 10 Jan 2011, 7:51, Reply)
Is that a circus act?
Will there also be a man in leopard print tunic with only one strap?
(, Mon 10 Jan 2011, 7:56, Reply)
I'm taking you to see Harry Connick Jr
There's no support, it's cost us a fortune, he inserts his new wife's name into several songs, and gets off after performing an hour because he's got a frigging headache.
I don't know what to say.

Today the diet will be difficult to cling to, as lots of people are back at work as term starts today and the café reopens, but I shall try very hard to stick to my own rations.

Squeeze at The Phil. We've got great seats.
(, Mon 10 Jan 2011, 8:29, Reply)
Shh!
It's a surprise!
(, Mon 10 Jan 2011, 8:37, Reply)
I like the way people say 'diet' as in "something to help me lose weight or be healthy", when reality everyone who eats is on a diet of some kind.
You don't need to lose weight, shouldn't even try it in your state, wait a few months 'till after it arrives.
(, Mon 10 Jan 2011, 8:50, Reply)
I'm on the 'Geoff Capes Diet'.
8 pints a night and all the chips and pies I can scarf. It's going great so far.
(, Mon 10 Jan 2011, 9:10, Reply)
I really don't understand The North's obsession with pie.
A great pie is good and all that, but an average pie is just dull and borring.... and most pies are average.
(, Mon 10 Jan 2011, 9:30, Reply)
therefore all northern pies are great
and all London pies are average. QED.
(, Mon 10 Jan 2011, 9:31, Reply)
I suspect it's more the Keith Richards diet

(, Mon 10 Jan 2011, 9:30, Reply)
Semisonic, Lisa Loeb, Speedway and The Offspring.

(, Mon 10 Jan 2011, 8:09, Reply)
I like The Offspring.
They're very much my guilty pleasure. It's mainly due to the nostalgia over playing Crazy Taxi as a young'un.
(, Mon 10 Jan 2011, 8:30, Reply)
They're shite, Bal.

(, Mon 10 Jan 2011, 8:30, Reply)
Yeah I know.
But I'm a sucker for nostalgia.
(, Mon 10 Jan 2011, 8:33, Reply)
So am I.

SHOCK NEWS.

Alt: We're going to see The Jimi Hendrix Experience at the Fillmore West.
The MC5 are supporting, as are The 'Oo. Lucky I got that time machine for Christmas isn't it?
(, Mon 10 Jan 2011, 8:27, Reply)
Just out of curiosity
has a date been fixed for this meatfest or Montstock or whatever it is you're calling it?
(, Mon 10 Jan 2011, 8:50, Reply)
I'm waiting for one or two confirmations
but 22nd is pretty much definite.

I took TGB on Saturday and I can confirm it's still FUCKING GREAT.
(, Mon 10 Jan 2011, 8:55, Reply)
I'm so tired I could sleep within a minute if I had my bed.
So that's not put me in a good mood for today.

Alt: I wouldn't take you, as you wouldn't like the gigs I go to, and I would feel I had to 'protect' you, even though I know I don't have to.
(, Mon 10 Jan 2011, 8:44, Reply)
Out of interest, if you could go back to bed,
when would you like someone to wake you up?
(, Mon 10 Jan 2011, 8:56, Reply)
About 1:30, good few hours kip.
And no, I'm not going to rise to your bait.
(, Mon 10 Jan 2011, 8:57, Reply)
You're no fun any more.

(, Mon 10 Jan 2011, 8:59, Reply)
As usual, having taken a day off on Friday I've returned to work to find that no-one has covered my role whilst I was away
so I imagine my ability to post crap on the internet may be diminished as a result. This is clearly unnacceptable.

On the upside, I leant one of my workmates the pilot of Battlestar Galactica and she showed an appropriate amount of excitement and reverence.

Alt: you're coming to InFest with me. It's in Bradford and most of the people on there (with the notable exception of Lab) are on drugs. You'll fit in nicely
