Woo Saturday
Although I'm at work so more of a "ugh Saturday"

Found a good punk radio station on live365, found anything good recently? No? Oh... sucks to be you.

Gonz made me watch Harry Potter and the goblet of fire last night. Annoyingly I quite enjoyed it, to the extent I suggested watching the next one tonight, what moments of madness have you had rececently?

Or Super Bonus Alt Q: If you could save [name of someone you love] from death but in the process you'd lose an arm would you do it?
(, Sat 15 Jan 2011, 9:05, 91 replies, latest was 15 years ago)
What's the station?

(, Sat 15 Jan 2011, 9:11, Reply)
Mimi Sumashi
Although it's a mix of poppunk and "proper" punk but it's great for waking you up in the morning
(, Sat 15 Jan 2011, 9:20, Reply)
I shall have a look at it in a bit.
You can never have too many punk stations.
(, Sat 15 Jan 2011, 9:21, Reply)
Especially one that plays Operation Ivy

(, Sat 15 Jan 2011, 9:24, Reply)
Well if it plays Op Ivy, I shall be there.
You have me sold on it.
(, Sat 15 Jan 2011, 9:26, Reply)
Aweome.
I should work in sales! ...oh wait
(, Sat 15 Jan 2011, 9:28, Reply)
It doesn't take much to make me want to listen to Op Ivy
In fact, I've just put them on now.
(, Sat 15 Jan 2011, 9:38, Reply)
If Miquita was on the brink of death then the loss of a limb would be a small price to pay to ensure her safety

(, Sat 15 Jan 2011, 9:25, Reply)
What if you'd lose your penis?

(, Sat 15 Jan 2011, 9:28, Reply)
We've had a good time together but all things must end

(, Sat 15 Jan 2011, 9:42, Reply)
Would you lose an arm and a leg for her?

(, Sat 15 Jan 2011, 10:00, Reply)
I'd certainly blow a monkey

(, Sat 15 Jan 2011, 10:10, Reply)
A baldmonkey?

(, Sat 15 Jan 2011, 10:40, Reply)
Nah, it's just the way my trousers hang

(, Sat 15 Jan 2011, 12:41, Reply)
picking the murcialego over the forg gt for an interceptor race, stupid boy!

(, Sat 15 Jan 2011, 10:46, Reply)
I'd probably give my left arm to save someone
moment of madness was just not turning up to my exam
(, Sat 15 Jan 2011, 10:47, Reply)
Why didn't you turn up?
Naughty girl
(, Sat 15 Jan 2011, 10:53, Reply)
Yesterday I genuinely made a mistake
this morning I just didn't want to move. It's stupid, it's storing up problems but I'm too lethargic to care.
(, Sat 15 Jan 2011, 10:54, Reply)
Do you want to tell Aunty Badger?
She will give you cake and if you're lucky a cup of tea
(, Sat 15 Jan 2011, 10:55, Reply)
Mmm cake
Just a lot of things. Realised my thesis is shit, I don't want to be here, I'm too tired to move and not only have I not lost weight, I have actually gained weight from eating less than a 1000 calories a day.

Edit: rereading, I sound entirely pathetic. Sorry
(, Sat 15 Jan 2011, 10:56, Reply)
ok first off your thesis is not shit
You have probably just been staring at it for hundreds of hours and now you are picking at every tiny little thing. If you don't want to be there come here! I haz cake. and losing weight is hard you just need to keep up the good work :)
(, Sat 15 Jan 2011, 11:02, Reply)
It feels like A-levels again
only this time I have to work.

Anyhow enough of my pitiful whining haha. How's the cleaning going? Is it a case of two steps forward, one step back?
(, Sat 15 Jan 2011, 11:06, Reply)
if you don't work you'll end up a dirty drop out like me
You don't want that now do you?

Kitchen CLEAN STILL!! I need to do the bathroom later today when I finish work it's pretty bad :(

Me and Gonz cooked cheesey bacony potato cakes yesterday they were surprisingly yummy. We need to buy a masher though
(, Sat 15 Jan 2011, 11:08, Reply)
The bathroom will be a big job
perhaps a pressure washer?

They sound tasty. Speaking of tasty, are you coming to Tayaabs then?
(, Sat 15 Jan 2011, 11:10, Reply)
hell yeah
Also I have just sold £645 worth of stuff and as I get commission I am gleeing. Makes working Saturdays worthwhile
(, Sat 15 Jan 2011, 11:34, Reply)
Good for you!
even if working Saturdays means no Oxfording. And ace news on the Tayaabs front
(, Sat 15 Jan 2011, 11:35, Reply)
hehe I've also been chatting to an ace customer
who strangely lives in Leamington! What are the odds! *giggles*
Quote of the conversation. I need to go buy a new car, so I've dressed all in black.. like a ninja!
(, Sat 15 Jan 2011, 11:45, Reply)
Haha
dressing as a ninja is essential to car-buying. Best combined with a Grace Kelly headscarf of course.

I just saw my tutor walk across the quad.
(, Sat 15 Jan 2011, 11:49, Reply)
Oh no :(
well, they know about your health and stuff so I'm sure you can persuade them to rearrange it again. I'm sorry to hear it's all shit, I remember what it was like and although it seems awful now it'll be really no time at all until you graduate.
As for the weight thing, give it time. Two weeks is nothing in terms of weight loss if you're doing it sensibly.
(, Sat 15 Jan 2011, 11:03, Reply)
I expect not to see much difference
after two weeks. I didn't expect to have put weight actually on though which I definitely have.
(, Sat 15 Jan 2011, 11:07, Reply)
It'll be stress of the exams and shit on top of telling your body it suddenly has to live on less then a 1000 calories a day.
One thing at a time. Don't look at the mountain of things to do. Just take one problem at a time.

And go to TGB's and chill out, give yourself a break and a chance to recharge.
(, Sat 15 Jan 2011, 11:14, Reply)
Good advice here thanks
first thing first I guess is to apologise for the second time in a row about missing this exam
(, Sat 15 Jan 2011, 11:16, Reply)
Oh no, the one yesterday
or the rearranged one?
(, Sat 15 Jan 2011, 10:53, Reply)
the rearranged one
I should've just done it. Now it's too late
(, Sat 15 Jan 2011, 10:54, Reply)
i'm having sushi for breakfast. Win
super alt: yes, although weirdly I dreamt I was asked out by a guy with one arm last night
(, Sat 15 Jan 2011, 11:06, Reply)
Was it that one armed guy from the simpsons?

(, Sat 15 Jan 2011, 11:08, Reply)
no, but I guess that would be weirder

(, Sat 15 Jan 2011, 11:10, Reply)
Sushi for breakfast?
Vive le difference.
(, Sat 15 Jan 2011, 11:09, Reply)
i ran out of millk
went to the supermarket and decided today was sushi day. I'm just crazy, me.

How's you this morning?
(, Sat 15 Jan 2011, 11:10, Reply)
Ironically
Given that I've told work I had flu for the past three days and was all ready to man up and go in today, guess what I woke up with?
(, Sat 15 Jan 2011, 11:12, Reply)
oh irony sadfaces

(, Sat 15 Jan 2011, 11:12, Reply)
Aye, karma's kicking my arse today.
Am tucked up with Lucozade and stuff. *sniff*
(, Sat 15 Jan 2011, 11:16, Reply)
AIDS?

(, Sat 15 Jan 2011, 11:17, Reply)
KarmaAIDS :(
This will teach me to be a lying liar.
(, Sat 15 Jan 2011, 11:27, Reply)
Sad times
Karma has bummed you for your sins.
(, Sat 15 Jan 2011, 11:28, Reply)
I only lied because I knew my dad wouldn't let me have time off for the real reason :(

(, Sat 15 Jan 2011, 11:31, Reply)
What was the real reason?

(, Sat 15 Jan 2011, 11:38, Reply)
Herpes

(, Sat 15 Jan 2011, 11:39, Reply)
It's still possible to work with herpes.
Providing you're not just scratching yourself to buggery the whole day, of course
(, Sat 15 Jan 2011, 11:41, Reply)
I couldn't face getting dressed or leaving the house, especially not to deal with people
Plus, got mad insomnia.
(, Sat 15 Jan 2011, 11:43, Reply)
Oh dear, that's not so good
Herpes seems preferable by comparison.
(, Sat 15 Jan 2011, 11:51, Reply)
If I'd had herpes I wouldn't have had to lie.
Unfortunately my dad's not really the type to believe in people being ill if there's no physical symptoms.
(, Sat 15 Jan 2011, 11:53, Reply)
The Harry Potter films are ok, the books are way better
alt: Yes.
(, Sat 15 Jan 2011, 11:10, Reply)
This is true
though I quite enjoyed the final film (part 1)
(, Sat 15 Jan 2011, 11:12, Reply)
Me too, though maybe because they were quite faithful to the book.

(, Sat 15 Jan 2011, 11:14, Reply)
The mood was right
and yeah it was quite faithful to the book. The Deluminator made me think once again 'MacGuffin' though
(, Sat 15 Jan 2011, 11:19, Reply)
i stopped reading the books after 3
but they were quite entertaining. I enjoyed the films more (I think because I didn't feel I was wasting as much of my life on kids stories) but I've not seen the latest. There's one thing going to the cinema on your own, another going on your own to see a kids film
(, Sat 15 Jan 2011, 11:15, Reply)
I care little about what people think about me reading kids books or watching kids films.

(, Sat 15 Jan 2011, 11:16, Reply)
This
plus the sad fact crunchy, that I went and watched the latest HP all on my lonesome because I'm the last person to see it
(, Sat 15 Jan 2011, 11:17, Reply)
second to last
I'm gonna have to wait for the dvd
(, Sat 15 Jan 2011, 11:22, Reply)
i don't care what people thing
(I'm a larper, why would I?) I think it's just the nagging feeling of the book being a bit childish - I read quite a bit of grown up fantasy, too, so HP is a bit like a light version of that
(, Sat 15 Jan 2011, 11:19, Reply)
Worryingly
HP is actually above-par to most 'adult' fantasty. Terry Brooks for example is far more poorly written.
(, Sat 15 Jan 2011, 11:23, Reply)
Oh god, this
The Shannara series was such a disappointment.
(, Sat 15 Jan 2011, 11:25, Reply)
I have all of Terry Brooks books
some of them are a little weak, but over all I've enjoyed them all. I'm reading the new one 'Bearers of the Black Staff' and very much enjoying it.
Though my favourite all time story was written by Terry Goodkind, Sword of Truth series. Oh man I loved that story.
(, Sat 15 Jan 2011, 11:30, Reply)
George RR Martin
is gonna get a kicking from me if he doesn't continue the song of ice and fire soon. There is a series started sometime this year, I think, though
(, Sat 15 Jan 2011, 11:31, Reply)
Not read any of those books.
My Mum is into the same genre, so we buy different authors and borrow each other books. Saves on pennies.
(, Sat 15 Jan 2011, 11:33, Reply)
it's an incredible series
but the last one came out about 5 years ago. I recommend waiting until he's written a couple more and read them in a row. They are full of conniving and nastiness and double crossing, which probably means if they are read together you can get more from them. I'm going to have to acquire all the old ones when/if the new one is done since I borrowed most of the others
(, Sat 15 Jan 2011, 11:37, Reply)
i don't read that
I'm quite picky - the very traditional type (you know quests and the like) have to be pretty good to hold my attention. I couldn't stand the Feist one I read.

The 'new' fantasy stuff (China Meiville, Campbell, etc.) largely rules. I wish steampunk writers were better, though
(, Sat 15 Jan 2011, 11:26, Reply)
I haven't read any in a fair bit
apart from Robin Hobb
(, Sat 15 Jan 2011, 11:29, Reply)
I *heart* Robin Hobb.
Santa brought me three more books by her this Christmas.
(, Sat 15 Jan 2011, 11:31, Reply)
She's amazing
the only author I've ever bothered to go and get a book signed by (Fool's Fate when I was 14)
(, Sat 15 Jan 2011, 11:33, Reply)
It's that trilogy I got for Christmas.
I also have Brent Weeks new book, Peter Brent 2 books and Terry Brooks new book to read.
I should be ok until about Easter for reading material.
(, Sat 15 Jan 2011, 11:37, Reply)
You'll really enjoy it :)
She keeps the quality up (the Soldier's Son books were good but not as good.)
(, Sat 15 Jan 2011, 11:38, Reply)
I might have found something good
People are looking round the vacant room in my flat this morning. The Irish guy who just looked round seemed very promising. The guy we're currently waiting for is showing signs of being a retard.
(, Sat 15 Jan 2011, 11:36, Reply)
but he's irish! Can't trust the Irish
*makes sure CHCB isn't around*
(, Sat 15 Jan 2011, 11:47, Reply)
Don't tell Monty, but the last bloke we showed round...
*whispers*
...was a darkie.
(, Sat 15 Jan 2011, 11:50, Reply)
Have you no decency man?!

(, Sat 15 Jan 2011, 11:52, Reply)
Next you'll be thinking about letting women live with you

(, Sat 15 Jan 2011, 11:54, Reply)
or gays
or even *whispers* an immigrant
(, Sat 15 Jan 2011, 11:57, Reply)
Alright treacle, how was the collection?

(, Sat 15 Jan 2011, 12:15, Reply)
See above
I didn't go :(
(, Sat 15 Jan 2011, 12:16, Reply)
Oh dear :(
Well you have Saturday to look forward to. Shit will be fiiiiiine.

Or have really pretty arms and not many friends.

(, Sat 15 Jan 2011, 12:57, Reply)
People say they would
but if your arm got hacked off painfully by an evil clown in a honda accord you may reconsider
(, Sat 15 Jan 2011, 13:05, Reply)
or you might have haemophilia

(, Sat 15 Jan 2011, 13:09, Reply)
Fuck no.
If they knew I was willing to lose an arm for their sake they'd take the piss and manipulate me into losing all my limbs. Then they'd cheat on me with someone who actually has arms and legs, then move that person in and kick me out onto the streets.
