This being b3ta, I'm really surprised that
no one has mentioned the obvious that Donkey's are short enough that they are easier to be very close to than full sized horses or sheep.

Poor writing, I am american after all and God knows we don;t speak english here.
I should have said they are the perfect size, bigger than sheep and smaller than horses.

This is of course all conjecture. I haven't done any empirical testing of this hypothesis.
