as i have flatmate, flatmate's bf and flatmate's parents all staying too. and they stay with me about 3 weeks every year and her husband drives me insane after a couple of days (he thinks i am a blank chequebook and is always trying to sell me stuff, complains that i buy low-fat ice-cream and jack daniels instead of glenmorangie, that kind of shit). that was also a hard conversation, so i sympathise.
although the response was "suppose we can get a hotel but could we stay some of the week?" which made me feel less bad, frankly.

We aren't enemies but we don't chat and when we share lectures it can be a bit awkward. It's ok though 'cause I joined OKCupid and have had a massive 3 messages!! all from nutters.
