I would need somewhere nice to take them back to
in order to feel comfortable going beyond snogging.

Which means I can twist the question round to ask my question, as I've boiled my search down to 2 flats and I'm torn between them.

Both are furnished; one is right by the train station I'd need to commute and has parking, the other is 6-8 minutes walk away and doesn't. The former has better interior design (by John Rocha, and I love his clothes), the latter is larger and has a whole extra room (with no windows, so storage or office or crash space for guests). The first is a shiny newish development, the latter a gorgeous old building that's been turned into apartments.

Argh. Which should I pick?

the bigger one
always

go for the newer one
old buildings are lovely but they're hassle.

Oooh! I know Lighty.
Post a question asking the good people of OT to offer an opinion, and then FUCK OFF WITHOUT TELLING US WHAT YOU'VE DECIDED.

I might be a tad tired this evening

I was asking people whose opinions matter to me
but look, I'm back now!

The first one
the second is further away from where you need to be and the extra room sounds like you aren't really going to use it for anything you need. The rest is just guff.

You've gone wrong there, LiT
They're both in the Midlands.

Zing!

Do suggest a better place
for commuting to my Midlands job...

Having looked at both of them, I'd say.
Get neither. They are both in Brum. Move somewhere good.

Proper answer, go with the first one, it'll be a much easier life

Fuck me, they're expensive.
As far as buildings go, I like the second one better. What are the neighbours like in each one?
(, Thu 5 May 2011, 22:13, Reply)
The first one is a big complex and I'm facing into the inner courtyard
it was pretty quiet in the building when I visited.
The second is next door to some offices (good) and a Greek restaurant (bad) and that's next door to a chavvy nightclub. But again, I'd be at the rear of the building so I'd have lovely views of an alley.

I've pretty much settled on the first one. I was all ready to get the second last week but I saw the first tonight and it bowled me over. I was a bit worried that it was NewShiny syndrome but I don't think so.

Phoning tomorrow!

Wait a few days before phoning about the first one.
John Rocha Debenhams must be due a blue-cross sale soon. You might save 20%

I love his clothes
he's fat, old and has long hair - no wonder his stuff looks good on me.

What offer are you going to make?
I assume you won't be going in at the asking price.
(, Thu 5 May 2011, 22:22, Reply)
I'm going to try and get it knocked down to £600/month
but I'll probably cave the moment they say no.
(, Thu 5 May 2011, 22:25, Reply)
Worth making an offer.
Nothing ventured nothing gained and all that sort of thing.
