The cricket's going much better today
I'm taking the missus to see Mark Thomas tonight

and other non sequiturs

Are you still awarding marks out for 10 for insults?

That is quality

(, Mon 6 Jun 2011, 15:37, Reply)
So if you were going to score it, would it get me a 10, based on it being a whole new way
Or insulting someone?
(, Mon 6 Jun 2011, 15:38, Reply)
I can't hand out the first 10 for that
as someone else has done most of the work for you. A high 8, though
(, Mon 6 Jun 2011, 15:40, Reply)
I had to TYPE in the words.
It was almost like writing a song.
(, Mon 6 Jun 2011, 15:41, Reply)
Oh fucking HELL
This changes everything. Have a 9, sir.
(, Mon 6 Jun 2011, 15:42, Reply)
You mean that's not what you sound like?

I'm taking the missus to see Mark Thomas up the shitter tonight
(, Mon 6 Jun 2011, 15:28, Reply)
A comedy product

(, Mon 6 Jun 2011, 15:29, Reply)
Is Mark Thomas still going?
Is he still an angry and self righteous hypocrisy buster?

Living in his large middle class house in South London, swanning around in his large lah-de-fucking-dah motor?

No? Different Mark Thomas. I see.
(, Mon 6 Jun 2011, 15:30, Reply)
Don't care
Last time we saw him he was fucking funny and she could do with a relaxing evening involving a few laughs. Making her dinner first while she's out teaching.

*polishes halo*

(, Mon 6 Jun 2011, 15:34, Reply)
Fingers crossed she'll do it for me

(, Mon 6 Jun 2011, 15:36, Reply)
I took your mrs to see John Thomas

(, Mon 6 Jun 2011, 15:33, Reply)
Hahaha, poor bloke
His name is a euphemism for penis! Must make his career as a stand-up easier I suppose.

Listening to Pitchshifter at the minute. What did you make of them?
(, Mon 6 Jun 2011, 15:36, Reply)
indeed!
Pitchshifter: never heard them before I saw them live. Brilliant live. Few great tracks (Hidden Agenda for one).

Got their album again a year or so ago and listened briefly. It's ok. some good ideas, but could've been done a bit better.
(, Mon 6 Jun 2011, 15:38, Reply)
I was just listening to Please Sir, that is a fucking belter
I saw J.S. Clayden at Rock City in Nottingham a few times - he was there as a punter - and he's an absolute cock. Being from Notts himself he thinks he's the Queen of fucking Sheba because they made it semi-big.
(, Mon 6 Jun 2011, 15:41, Reply)
he looks like a cock
doesn't surprise me at all
(, Mon 6 Jun 2011, 15:45, Reply)
Yeah, it's unsurprising that he was the only member of Pitchshifter who ever did interviews
at the height of their fame. Who else was really good then that I haven't listened to in ages? The problem with that era is that so much of the popular stuff was centred around that bass-heavy "nu-metal" sound. I mean, Coal Chamber FFS. They haven't aged well.
(, Mon 6 Jun 2011, 15:48, Reply)
heh, I listened to a bit of Coal Chamber a while back
I only have Chamber Music. There's a couple of ok songs. Best one being their version of Shock The Monkey with Ozzy.

when those guys were big I was mostly listening to Metallica, Korn, The Offspring and Deftones.
(, Mon 6 Jun 2011, 15:50, Reply)
I have their first album, mediocre but nostalgia-ridden

(, Mon 6 Jun 2011, 15:52, Reply)
I'd like to hear Loco again for old time's sake

(, Mon 6 Jun 2011, 15:56, Reply)
It hasn't aged well
but there's still plenty of fun to be had with it. In my case, mostly flailing my head about and remembering having long hair.
(, Mon 6 Jun 2011, 15:57, Reply)
I'll pop it on now
It won't do you any good though.
(, Mon 6 Jun 2011, 15:58, Reply)
Ditto (to an extent - Load and Reload really knackered my faith in them)
Most definitely ditto, sometimes and pre-White Pony, yes. I also went through a phase of trying to support British rock music like the Wildhearts, Terrorvision and 3 Colours Red because everything else being produced in this country at the time was so fucking dire. But mostly I was about the Manson and NIN.
(, Mon 6 Jun 2011, 15:53, Reply)
I totally went off the Deftones when they brought out White Pony
seemed to get more whiny or something.

I never got into the Wildhearts. I listened to Terrorvision before I got into Metallica, but having got an album or two of theirs now, and having seen them live I can say that they are quite shit.

I did like a bit of Marilyn Manson, but mostly it was about those I mentioned
(, Mon 6 Jun 2011, 15:55, Reply)
Terrorvision were a bit shit
but somehow they were always great fun with it. I can't quite explain why I enjoy them as much as I do.

Fucking right about White Pony, they disappeared right up their own arses with that one. Thought they were Tool or something.
(, Mon 6 Jun 2011, 15:59, Reply)
That album's only good for 'Passenger'

(, Mon 6 Jun 2011, 16:01, Reply)
That "Back to School" thing they followed it up with was a fucking travesty
Everything about the song and the video screamed "our album didn't shift enough copies because it wasn't very good". You could practically hear the cash registers ringing.
(, Mon 6 Jun 2011, 16:03, Reply)
I like Feticeira and Digital Bath from that

(, Mon 6 Jun 2011, 16:07, Reply)
I got into rock through The Wildhearts, Terrorvision and later 3 Colours Red
Seen the former live about 16 times, fucking excellent band.
(, Mon 6 Jun 2011, 15:56, Reply)
I got into rock through Bon Jovi
and I'm not in the least bit ashamed about it.
(, Mon 6 Jun 2011, 16:00, Reply)
you have such a long list of things you should be ashamed about
it'd be weird if you started with liking Bon Jovi
(, Mon 6 Jun 2011, 16:06, Reply)
I know I should be offended by this
but it's fucking funny
(, Mon 6 Jun 2011, 16:07, Reply)
that's how I like to operate

Have A Nice Day.

Keep the Faith brother
*goes out in a Blaze Of Glory*
(, Mon 6 Jun 2011, 16:17, Reply)
You already used Keep The Faith!
And you don't want to go down the route of Jon's solo stuff. Not unless you want to be called the Queen of New Orleans.
(, Mon 6 Jun 2011, 16:19, Reply)
Shit
I need beer. what a fucking shit day
(, Mon 6 Jun 2011, 16:20, Reply)
*scans for Bon Jovi song titles*
Sorry to hear that mate.
(, Mon 6 Jun 2011, 16:22, Reply)
www.pitchshifter.com and Deviant are brilliant
Industrial and P.S.I less so, though the latter has some good tunes.
(, Mon 6 Jun 2011, 15:40, Reply)
Agreed on all counts
Hey, Labs, you know who's good live?!!
(, Mon 6 Jun 2011, 15:42, Reply)
I got my tickets through on Saturday!

(, Mon 6 Jun 2011, 15:47, Reply)
Oh really?
Can you have them delivered? I think I'm picking mine up at the door. I fucking hope so anyway *checks emails furiously*

Only 3 weeks now innit. Can't wait
(, Mon 6 Jun 2011, 15:49, Reply)
Yes and yes
It's gonna be a belter for sure.
(, Mon 6 Jun 2011, 15:51, Reply)
It's up to you to name me a good pub near the gig to head for when I arrive
Because I've never been to Leamington Spa
(, Mon 6 Jun 2011, 15:54, Reply)
The Well is a decent student pub near the bridge, about 2 mins from the venue.

(, Mon 6 Jun 2011, 15:55, Reply)
Cheers mate
I'll see you there. My hair's not that stupid any more so I'd best wear a red carnation or something.
(, Mon 6 Jun 2011, 15:58, Reply)
No idea yet when I'll get there
But I'll let you know closer to the time.
(, Mon 6 Jun 2011, 16:00, Reply)
No worries
I'll be leaving Norwich early in case there's horrific traffic, am perfectly happy to wander round the town if I'm there by half 6
