I'm very bored and not too sober
This should be the standard header for all TD threads.

Even the new heroes are quiet tonight.

I'm trying to trawl through a load of work
but eBay is being a bastard, and I'm going to have to give it up for the night.

And there's nothing good on TV tonight. This sucks. I think alcohol may well be the answer.
(, Sat 18 Jun 2011, 21:00, Reply)
Alcohol is always the answer
Saturday evening TV has been shit since I grew out of it, but as my aerial is lying in a prone position halfway down my roof I don't even have that option.

Thanks for replying though - even B69 has wandered off after I abused him.
(, Sat 18 Jun 2011, 21:05, Reply)
Perhaps you should have spooned him afterwards then.
We have stumbled upon V for Vendetta, which I have never seen before, so we are watching that.
(, Sat 18 Jun 2011, 21:11, Reply)
I'd have watched that too
If I had a working TV....
(, Sat 18 Jun 2011, 21:14, Reply)
I'm trying to convince my wife to watch The Prestige instead of this shit Dermot O'Leary programme
I will succeed. I MUST succeed.
(, Sat 18 Jun 2011, 21:25, Reply)
If indeed you are trying etc.

(, Sat 18 Jun 2011, 21:30, Reply)
I'm VERY trying
..but it's not working so far. Surely this programme would struggle holding a daytime slot on LivingTV. Stoopid marital compromises.
(, Sat 18 Jun 2011, 21:36, Reply)
One of my exes was heavily into Muse.
I feel your pain.
(, Sat 18 Jun 2011, 22:32, Reply)
I wouldn't have watched that
Even if I had a working TV
(, Sat 18 Jun 2011, 21:36, Reply)
*prepares to lob a half-brick*
It's the only way to be sure...
(, Sat 18 Jun 2011, 21:38, Reply)
Wait, new Hereos? The telly show? Really?
Look at what I just made

(, Sat 18 Jun 2011, 21:39, Reply)
Oh now, that looks VERY tasty

(, Sat 18 Jun 2011, 21:48, Reply)
Thanks =)
It's the first time I've made carmel before, it's amazing stuff, it takes ages and ages and then all of a sudden it's brown and then all of a sudden burnt. It's got a forked puff pastry (stop it rising) with apples and pears. It was all need but when I went to turn it out I hit a cupboard and it all shifted to the side.
(, Sat 18 Jun 2011, 22:05, Reply)
I'm no chef at all
Trying caramalised stuff is a feat beyond me.

But if I had a superfast anti-breathyliser car I'd be all over that.
(, Sat 18 Jun 2011, 22:13, Reply)
It's quite simple really, water + sugar + high heat + 15-20 minutes. I thought it was 50/50 water to sugar but think that might have been a mistake as it took longer.
It just needs faith that it's gonna turn into a carmel, it starts off as a clear liquid, then after 10 minutes it's bubbly and I noticed the spoon (wodden) i used to stir left a crust when I put it on the table, and then it turned into a white foam that went yellow and then a few moments later brown.... when I then plonked in the fruit it was soo dark and I was like "Oh shit, too much", but it's alright.
(, Sat 18 Jun 2011, 22:18, Reply)
Are you not needing more sugar than water?
This is something I'd like to try.
(, Sat 18 Jun 2011, 22:32, Reply)
I'm not 100%, the 50/50 thing worked, but it took a lot longer than it does when they do it on the telly, I think they just add about 20% water.

(, Sat 18 Jun 2011, 22:34, Reply)
B69?
You're the trained chef.

Your verdict?
(, Sat 18 Jun 2011, 22:51, Reply)
Just had a taste, it's really nice, I over-flowered the pastry though which was a mistake as you can taste the raw flower... but it's good for my first attempt =)

(, Sat 18 Jun 2011, 23:02, Reply)
I'm not at all bored and totally sober, so nerdy-ner to you!
And the "new heroes" (pfffffffft) can ram it!
I like my heroes old and dead, like Hendrix, Marx and Elliot.
I wanna see these so-called "new heroes" do something heroic...
(, Sat 18 Jun 2011, 21:41, Reply)
Which Elliot are you thinking of there?
Elliot Smith is very dead. Listen to Figure Eight and tell me it hasn't bent your head a bit.
(, Sat 18 Jun 2011, 21:51, Reply)
I was thinking of T.S but I'll check out your recommendation.
What is it with "heroes" these days?
Try doing something heroic, then I'll call you a hero.
I think folk these days are far to easily impressed, just look at the gormless retards searching for fame every Saturday night.
Wankers

Poor Fucker

May have been shot. May have shot himself but Elliot Smith needs listening to.
(, Sat 18 Jun 2011, 22:21, Reply)
I'll check that out when I get home, connection v slow here.
In the mean time I'll google Elliot Smith...
(, Sat 18 Jun 2011, 22:28, Reply)
Do that thing
Lots of bands - even the despicable fucking abomination that is Coldplay - claim Elliot Smith as a big influence.

Not a very stable man, it has to be said, but eventually he'll be up there alongside Buckley, Hardin and Drake.
(, Sat 18 Jun 2011, 22:37, Reply)
I was confused for a moment there because I thought you were talking about Elliott Carter.
Who as it turns out is 102 and still alive.
(, Sat 18 Jun 2011, 22:43, Reply)
Born less than a month before me AND an alcoholic.
Could almost be twins LOL

Oh well - the world has one more evil plumber and one less genious songwriter.
(, Sat 18 Jun 2011, 22:41, Reply)
My mother was gonna have rid of me two months in...
But being the evil cow she is she chose to inflict me on the world.
Ha!
(, Sat 18 Jun 2011, 22:57, Reply)
Don't do such evil shite to me
For you know my head is spinning and I can't do your heavy shite tonite.

I live in a land of contented doggys and kitties.
(, Sat 18 Jun 2011, 23:04, Reply)
And I inhabit a dank and dirty hell full of faeces and vomit.

evening TD
I went to Wok Your Way www.wokyourway.co.uk/ and had chicken and mushroom with black bean sauce and egg noodles ( and the usual stirfry veg). Not bad - and practically on my doorstep!

Now I'm stuffed and Braveheart is starting. I'll give it a while, see if I want to watch it all...
(, Sat 18 Jun 2011, 22:10, Reply)
Looks good man

(, Sat 18 Jun 2011, 22:33, Reply)

(, Sat 18 Jun 2011, 22:43, Reply)
Just watched Total Wipeout for the first time
not bad
(, Sat 18 Jun 2011, 22:53, Reply)
Do you feel better/worse/the same for that?
Answers on a postcard please to TD, C/O The Symposium, Bradford but the NICE part of Bradford.
(, Sat 18 Jun 2011, 23:00, Reply)
There is no "nice" part of Bratford.
But I guess it's "nicer" than Barrow?
That could be Bratford's new strapline.
"Bratford, it's nicer than Barrow"
Yeah, think I'll send them that by carrier pigeon. At least that way some poor malnourished soul will get a meal...
(, Sat 18 Jun 2011, 23:13, Reply)
Fuck off Sunshine
At least I grew up in a proper town.

"Oh oh. We are Carlisle and the Government tells us what to do."

You're a fucking disgrace to the North. Manchester is better than you sorry losers.
(, Sat 18 Jun 2011, 23:25, Reply)
I'd rather be a disgrace than live in Bratford ;)
Nighty night, sweetcheeks xxx
