I just want to ride it.
I saw one at, get this, at KMart. lol.
It's a "boys" bike but it looks massive and I'm fairly certain I could ride it.
But, I don't want to fork out the money if it's not built to suit.
(, Thu 21 Jul 2011, 20:04, 1 reply, 15 years ago)
are you looking to travel far of just pootle about and have fun?
I'd advise against Walmart, it will be cheap but really shit and not much fun. for the same money you should be able to get something ridable second hand or better quality.

what's your budget?
(, Thu 21 Jul 2011, 20:08, Reply)
Just POOTLE ABOUT
I like that phrase. Pootle about. Ride around the neighborhood or town. Maybe start a gang.

I don't know, I would like to not spend more than $150.
(, Thu 21 Jul 2011, 20:10, Reply)
Hahaha!
Start a gang? What will be your colours?
(, Thu 21 Jul 2011, 20:12, Reply)
Black and pink.
Probably.
I'm totally going to hold...what's it called to get people in....not auditions...fuck I'm the worst gang leader ever.
(, Thu 21 Jul 2011, 20:15, Reply)
try outs

(, Thu 21 Jul 2011, 20:17, Reply)
Try outs?
Mindpiss!
(, Thu 21 Jul 2011, 20:17, Reply)
Well you could try and get the crocheters on your side
i'm pretty influential in those circles
(, Thu 21 Jul 2011, 20:19, Reply)
my gran is the only crocheter I know

(, Thu 21 Jul 2011, 20:21, Reply)
and me!

(, Thu 21 Jul 2011, 20:22, Reply)
i'd have thought you could get something for that
£100 would get you a useable second hand hybrid or MTB over here. I'd say just get an old but well cared for mountian bike to be honest, they are cheap as hell these days, go forever and if speed is not a priority it's be fine.
something like this:
www.gumtree.com/p/for-sale/rare-giant-mtb-atb-mountainbike-coldrock-80s-vintage/83973869
would be all you'd need, I know it's a UK listing, so it might be different around your way, but worth checking craigslist for your area.
(, Thu 21 Jul 2011, 20:17, Reply)
that's not cool looking at ALL
what sort of gang rolls around on those? only coppers!
(, Thu 21 Jul 2011, 20:19, Reply)
You want one of these.

I might have to buy it just because of your post.
My mate Dana bought one for her son and her husband rode it, he's about 6'2"
(, Thu 21 Jul 2011, 20:31, Reply)
it can be done, especially is you're not going far.
I just happen to think it looks silly, but don't take my opinion on matters of style, you've seen my FB photos, so you know what that counts for.

You want cool for $150?
Best of luck. depends what you think is cool I guess you could get an old racer maybe but they are not the best to learn on. Maybe the department store bike is for you, but the built quality will be poor verging on dangerous.
(, Thu 21 Jul 2011, 20:23, Reply)
Dangerous! To pootle around on?
worst day ever
(, Thu 21 Jul 2011, 20:24, Reply)
Cool people don't pootle.

(, Thu 21 Jul 2011, 20:25, Reply)
they cruise?

(, Thu 21 Jul 2011, 20:25, Reply)
well, doubt you'd die
but if the brakes fail, or the wheel falls off it could hurt.
(, Thu 21 Jul 2011, 20:25, Reply)
WUT
really? you really think that will happen? or are you just saying because I'm not into the adult version of awesome biking?
oh, CYCLING, sorry
(, Thu 21 Jul 2011, 20:32, Reply)
Are we talking about the think you linked?
If so, you are probably OK, it looks too simple to have much go wrong and if the brakes fail you can stop with your feet. It's a toy more than a bike, but you want to play more than travel, so don't let that put you off.
(, Thu 21 Jul 2011, 20:36, Reply)
I'm not travelling in it.
This isn't srs bznss biking. It's faffing about the neighborhood, maybe training my dog to run along side it.
Ride around town and beat up kids. That sort of thing.
(, Thu 21 Jul 2011, 20:38, Reply)
Can't go far wrong then
if the BMX floats you boat then get it, it's about enjoyment at the end of the day. Might be worth trying something that size first if you can borrow a friends, just so you know if you'll be comfortable.
(, Thu 21 Jul 2011, 20:41, Reply)
