I can see the street
admittedly it is quite a nice suburban leafy street with nice big victorian and georgian houses...but I'd prefer it if I could see Fiji.

Evening berk.
How are you today, Any developments work-wise?
(, Mon 25 Jul 2011, 20:50, Reply)
I'm alright ta
yourself? I turned down the London job, will probably be offered the Oxford job I went for last Friday, will probably turn down that as well depending on how the interview I have this Friday, also at Oxford and for a job I actually want, goes.

So exciting times!
Well don't turn down the other Oxford offer until you've had the interview this Friday.

It might be good if you can shoehorn in the 'berk is in demand' line, so a quick decision would be useful.

No, I won't turn that down until I've had the other interview, don't worry.
but I am very keen and I know how to put that across without sounding desperate, and I've also thought of some good questions to ask. I know I interview well and I'm not terrified like I was for my PhD interviews.

That sounds really positive.
Is Oxford a location you'd be happy in?
(, Mon 25 Jul 2011, 21:02, Reply)
Yeah, I think so
I'd move to Leamington (halfway between tennis boy and work, essentially) and commute. It's do-able. And of course the magical words on my CV, 'Oxford' and 'clinical trials' will look very good.
(, Mon 25 Jul 2011, 21:05, Reply)
Would it not be easier to move to Oxford and then meet TC in Leamington?
You'll spend a fortune on petrol otherwise.

Trains my dear, trains
since I'd be on the train every day to and from work, I'd just stay on it and carry on up to where he lives, it's only 20-odd minutes, or about 20ish miles in the car. I will see him more often if I live in Leamington, Oxford is a long way to come if you're just popping over for the evening.

Well lets hope that this is a nice problem you have!
What sort of research is the interview on Friday for?
(, Mon 25 Jul 2011, 21:14, Reply)
There are three posts
two are working on a model system for typhoid infection, and one is testing samples from a pre-clinical trial for a new meningitis vaccine. I'd prefer the meningitis one.
(, Mon 25 Jul 2011, 21:15, Reply)
Do you think you'd get a complex implementing a hot drinks system for some cat-walk girls?

(, Mon 25 Jul 2011, 21:18, Reply)
I re-read that about four times before I understood what the hell you were on about
it did not get any more funny the more I read it.
(, Mon 25 Jul 2011, 21:22, Reply)
Sorry.
I read 'typhoid' as 'Typhoo'and it sort of ran away with me.

Apols.
