I want to purchase a netbook. Mostly it'll be used for writing stuff and interweb surfing so it doesn't need to be super-fly (I've got a real computer for that). Does need to be fairly tough (I'm clumsy) and cheap (I'm stingey)
any recommendations?

A ten inch screen sucks for browsing the web.

and processors that can't really handle video, so one's much the same as another.

I watch video on my netbook all the time

if you asked it nicely and sacrificed a chicken to the computer gods

and no good at all for the one thing they're named for. Browsing the internet.

Epecially as more and more people are browsing on their fucking phones. I find the 10 inch screen fine to use its only a bit small that a 13 inch mac. I've been using it for a while and its fine, the synaptics touchpad drivers make browsing easy because you can easily zoom in and out

a high enough resolution to be able to display an entire webpage and even if they did, you would struggle to read the text.
On something that is supposedly designed for web browsing though, it's fucking stupid.

No netbook is really tough by any stretch of that, you might be able to get away with dropping them on a bed or sofa but they'll die if you drop them on the floor.

but there's no way I'm buying from PC world. That seems a reasonable amount to pay. If it's worth it I may spend a bit more - I have a grown up job and everything now

which will be infinitely better than the best netbook.

I won't carry it round, thus making it a waste of time.
(, Thu 4 Aug 2011, 12:46, Reply)
on something you know will be worse because it'll be slightly bigger?
OK. Enjoy your netbook, then.

better for others. A proper real computer would be better, but I have on of those and they won't fit in my bag. Seriously, this thing won't be needed to do any heavy work

and put the proper windows 7 on. Gaz me if you need help obtaining a copy
(, Thu 4 Aug 2011, 12:49, Reply)
i have a real copy for this computer (teacher edition, it was cheaper), but I don't think I'm allowed it on anything else

3 hours if I'm watching video. Its 2 years old now though, did more when it was new.

I expected slow but it's positively snail-like.

they come with loads of shit installed that slows them down loads

I wouldn't recomend a tablet to replace a main computer, but as something for pissing about on the web when you're out'n'about, they're great. And you can get keyboard-cases for them too.

Mainly so I canuse it to draw on. I tried a very basic graphics tablet once, but it was shit.
(, Thu 4 Aug 2011, 12:57, Reply)
Do these tablets run photoshop without too many problems?
(, Thu 4 Aug 2011, 13:04, Reply)
Any suggestions? At the moment I've got a scanner and do my colouring in with strong liners. I'd much prefer to be able t scribble directly into PS though.

Might be a pain with sunlight and reflections but you get a better quality image
(, Thu 4 Aug 2011, 13:14, Reply)
but I was talking more in terms of graphics tablets or touch screens. Or is that what you meant?
