as I have no kids, but a dog that I dote on and take everywhere with me. Luckily he is pretty well behaved, and will sit quietly beside one of us when we go places, but he can be very exciteable, and sounds incredibly loud and ferocious when he barks.
I do understand that a dog is significantly more powerful than a baby, and if they ever had a disagreement the baby would come off a hell of a lot worse, but I can't help feeling a tiny bit insulted when people criticise my dog. When I was at the pub last night there was a screaming toddler there. I didn't ask the parents to keep it and its grubby hands away from the dog, because I know the toddler can't be reasoned with any more than the dog can. I just took my dog into the other bar.
Short of starting a family feud, I would suggest, if the dog does it again, pick up the baby, stand up, and walk into another room. Or just stand up and face away from the dog. After a couple of goes ta this, it will get teh picture that it can't play with the baby, and should give up pestering it.
