Quick thread feel free to threadstomp
I have just been asked for my current CV ASAP by an employer. I don't bloody have one, can anyone recommend a template so I can write one in the next half hour or so?

You can't write a decent one in half an hour
I'd tell them you need to update it and can it wait until tomorrow.

Don't tell me what I can and can't do!
I have all my qualifications and certificates listed I can do it today damn it!

depends if you're desperately trying to cover over inadequacies
by having "mission statements" and "core values" and some artfully formatted piece of wank, or if your qualifications, experience and skills speak for themselves really.

I have more than enough qualifications and experience for the job
Just need a CV as they have asked for it.

The only real template you need
is to remember to go

Personal details
Education
Professional Qualifications
Relevant Experience
Supporting Interests
References

And to keep it under two pages. Anything else is just fluff.

Mine's 5-6 pages but then it's an academic CV so hardly relevant I guess.
Otherwise, yeah. If you need a fancy template you're just trying to cover for lack of content.

The worst CV I've ever seen fell into our email filter.
It was from some guy who was billing himself as a graphic designer. He'd used a fancy template and put a load of graphics on it, including fake coffee cup rings etc. It just made him look like a cunt.

It fell into our filter because his spelling was awful. No amount of flash is going to make up for poor English on a CV.

Oh, man, this
I've been sifting through application forms for 3 jobs I'm recruiting for. These are academic roles requiring PhDs; do you seriously think I'm going to consider you if you can't fill in the form correctly, can't spell and ignore questions you don't like?
(, Wed 10 Aug 2011, 11:58, Reply)
As long as it's clearly formatted, though
that's pretty important
(, Wed 10 Aug 2011, 11:50, Reply)
Well, yeah
but anyone that needs a template to clearly format a document shouldn't be allowed fizzy drinks, let alone a job.
(, Wed 10 Aug 2011, 11:52, Reply)
Why?

(, Wed 10 Aug 2011, 12:03, Reply)
because "clearly formatted"
just means "readable"

If you can't make a readable document I suspect your problems are deeper than your CV content. Unless you have dyslexia or similar I guess.

Tell them to get to to fuck.
And if they don't like it make some muttered threats about killing the potential bosses dog.

Or Googlesearch CV's and use the one that looks the least amateurish and shit?
(, Wed 10 Aug 2011, 11:59, Reply)
I'm afraid you're going to have to kill yourself.
Sorry to be the bearer etc.

Nah, i've finished already
