I love wearing a casual blazer with decent jeans/trousers and a t-shirt. Good shoes are paramount to making it work. Can look well like my dad if I do it wrong, tho.

Slipknot is the most standard knot for a tie, will usually leave the knot looking lopsided
Windsor knots look far better.
