The typewriter was invented by a left-handed woman
which is why all the importand letters are on the left hand side.

I was talking about the inventor of the typewriter, but at least I know how you really feel about me

Poor Chezza.

I knew what you meant, K. I was just misunderstanding for comedic purposes. And you know it. And now you're trying to make me feel bad by pretending that you're crying you MASSIVE INTERNET BULLY!

In other news, how's the last day going?
(, Fri 12 Aug 2011, 16:02, Reply)
I've been called a bully like 17 times on here today.
It's going, I'm about to call and see if they've looked at my app for this job yet
(, Fri 12 Aug 2011, 16:04, Reply)
If it's any consolation
we don't really think you're an internet bully. Maybe a bitch, but not a bully ;-)

Awww, Poor K
I think she's also wrong about who invented the typewriter.
(, Fri 12 Aug 2011, 16:24, Reply)
Wasn't the keyboard layout specifically designed so that the letters are awkwardly placed?
In order to slow down typists and avoid the keys getting mashed together on the old style manual typewriters? I've a feeling this was a later 'innovation' probably by a man, thus invalidating your theory, but I'm off to Wikipedia to find out.
(, Fri 12 Aug 2011, 15:58, Reply)
Yeah, Wikipedia will know.
Font of all knowledge, is Wikipedia.

How are you, scrotebag?
(, Fri 12 Aug 2011, 16:04, Reply)
It's fun to bash Wikipedia
but if it wasn't actually right most of the time people wouldn't use it.

It agrees with me about qwerty being invented by a bloke, but not about the deliberately being hard to type on bit. That's half remembered form an educational program in my yoof, so may well be wrong.

I'm fine thanks you mawkish harridan, much better for having seen/hugged my boy on his return from Florida.
(, Fri 12 Aug 2011, 16:08, Reply)
He's obviously not a teenager then.
The only people allowed to hug them are other teenagers. Parents, aunts/uncles and grandparents are just embarrassing.
(, Fri 12 Aug 2011, 16:10, Reply)
I'm no that old.
Although, shockingly I could have legally fathered a 20 year old, but he's 8, and quite happy with public displays of affection, long may it last.
(, Fri 12 Aug 2011, 16:12, Reply)
It's a good general reference
on specifics, particularly in certain more obscure areas, it falls down as the page tends to be written by one person to their interpretation and not enough people check or can be bothered to argue.

It's getting better though. Although I still kick my student's arses for referencing it; that's unacceptable.
(, Fri 12 Aug 2011, 16:13, Reply)
For this kind of general knowledge shit it's plenty sufficient.
I mean Chompy's quoting it down there, and we all know how right he is about everything.
(, Fri 12 Aug 2011, 16:15, Reply)
*looks at keyboard*
Fucking hell, I'd never thought about that before
(, Fri 12 Aug 2011, 16:04, Reply)
That's coz it's wrong.
Or more likely coincidental.

Edit: I was listening to the Scissor sisters earlier and it made me think of you, sorry, how are ya anyways?
(, Fri 12 Aug 2011, 16:08, Reply)
Very good thank you, mainly due to Alastair Cook
Am off home now though, apologies for the rudeness - have a fabulous weekend, everyone
(, Fri 12 Aug 2011, 16:20, Reply)
Toodles.

(, Fri 12 Aug 2011, 16:20, Reply)
That's because you're stupid
and a boy. Which means you're doubly stupid.

Or possibly because you're right-brained. I only know because my Mum is left-handed, and used to be a typist in the army, and she told me.

Actually, that's how we know most things, isn't it? Not because my Mum is left handed etc, but because somebody told us. Or we read it.

I think my blood sugar levels may be worryingly low. I appear to be turning into Gonz.

No it wasn't it was invented by a man

Also what's an important letter?
O,P and L are all pretty useful.

You see how you used 50+ words to say what I said in 9 and a link?

(, Fri 12 Aug 2011, 16:27, Reply)
Yes it's called conversation
Because I am on here to socialise, rather than drop fact-bombs and feel superior. Well, actually I do the feeling superior thing too, like How I'm feeling superior to you right now, but I do it in a chatty way.
(, Fri 12 Aug 2011, 16:43, Reply)
Sorry, I'm too busy to socialise on the internet.

(, Fri 12 Aug 2011, 16:50, Reply)
I'm not.
I like this.
(, Fri 12 Aug 2011, 16:59, Reply)
Don't be ridiculous
women don't invent useful things.

Jumpers for kittens, sure. Something mechanical? Never.

Edit: All of the important letters like Q and none of the unimportant letters like three vowels, m, n, and l. Also, carriage return.
(, Fri 12 Aug 2011, 16:11, Reply)
Again this is because
while the typewriter may have been invented by a lefty woman, the layout of the keys was not.
(, Fri 12 Aug 2011, 16:17, Reply)
All punctuation is on the right hand side of the keyboard, too.
