Initially, it was meant as a joke, as Swipe is what I would call a partial vegetarian
Whether or not a veggie feels comfortable buying leather products is dependent on their reasons for being vegetarian. If it's because they don't like the taste of meat, then fair enough, buy leather shoes (but you're weird). If they don't eat meat because they feel that animals are entitled to not die for our sakes, buying leather is hypocritical.
