But rounds of drinks have set me back quite a large amount before, I remember a £45 one a while ago, that wasn't enjoyable.
Alt: I really enjoy them, but it's all down to whether or not you get the arseholes doing jump kicks in the middle. 90% of people in the pits know the etiquette, but the 10% seem determined to ruin it for everyone else.

Don't pull/push/drag in anyone who doesn't want to be in there.
What happens in there, stays in there (i.e. Don't attack someone after the gig.)
Don't wear spiked jewellry.
Don't aim to hurt someone in particular.
They're the main ones, but I'm sure there are likely others.
EDIT: Also, fairly obvious ones, as pointed out by Kroney - Not punching people in the face, not kicking people

And, in one noteable instance, not having ball bearings woven into your hair whilst helicoptering wildly.
Edit: Please assume I've placed the above response under Stunned's post, and the following under yours:
Yes.

The best helicoptering/windmilling I've seen is done by this guy

He tells me that the next week she'd added razor blades to it.
Mosh pits can be fun and part of that fun is how rough they are, but I don't understand the desire of some people to actually maim others.

Some of my more recent gigs have just been dangerous, I got elbowed hard in the eye at one a few months back, that was a bit of a shock, as I'd been in there for rough 0.5 seconds when it hit. The guy just moved off, didn't say a word.
On the other hand, seeing Carcass a few years back, one guy was running, stumbled, and smacked me (hard), in the face. I think only adrenaline kept me standing, any other time he'd have knocked me on my arse. He immediately apologised, asked if I was OK, and offered to buy me a pint.

I know a girl that made the mistake of wearing a skirt in one once.
She didn't make that mistake again and didn't go into another mosh pit, either.

I wasn't actually at that concert, much to my regret.

I'd have told her not to wear a fucking skirt, for starters :P

The last pit I was in was to this, at Sonisphere. Absolutely spectacular.
