Haven't seen the remake.
I liked the original, although I confess to not having read the book. Always meant to.

Guy Pierce.
It's not bad, and it's fairly faithful to the book I think, although TBH I cannot remember how it ends. The book starts with one of the best lines ever: "The Time Traveller (for so it will be convenient to speak of him) was expounding a recondite matter to us."

I also enjoyed the Invisible Man. Apparently there's a remake in the works. It'll probably be awful.

The Invisible Man
was an amazingly depressing book I thought. Excellent, but depressing.

If you can get your hands on "A Modern Utopia" it's well worth the read. It's astonishing how far ahead of his time Wells was.
