My laptop screen is knackered, it's very very dark on startup and I have tried fn button and brightness and it changes nothing. Is the screen fucked? What are my options? It's a dell inspiron thingy ma jig.

My ones now. I didn't know them that well besides one who I know from down here. Only went out with them a few times before we moved in together, but it turns out we all get on like a house on fire. I really am beyond delighted with how it's all worked out.

He had a huge DVD collection, games consoles and torrented loads of US shows. Frequently made (and demanded) tea. Genuinely fun flatmate - did crazy stuff when drunk: run to the town centre and back barefoot on a dare and came back with bleeding feet. Initiated a Naked House with about 10 of our friends.
Thankfully I was absent from that one.

turned out to be a loose connection. I took it a part, pushed the ribbon cable in firmly and reassembled, it's worked fine for the last two years.
However you're probably not happy taking a screw driver to your lappy, so this leaves you screwed. I'd have a crack at it, but your not local, sorry.
