but it's not even remotely comparable to say that the news stories about this group of "Irish Travellers" are the same as anti-sematism.

because that would be very relevant to the argument I'm having with people about the negative view of cancer in the press.

And saying "I'm not saying _all_ of them are like that, but the ones who I've delt with all are" seems to me like an attempt at a get-out clause.

Unpleasant they are too.
Some are OK but the rest (and there are more than enough bad apples) are anti-social, thieving buggers.

the council built a school for all these kids. It has almost the worst attendance record out of all the schools in the country.
Do you not think that if this particular group of irish people (they are not gypsys) were really keen to appreciate all the things the council is willing to do for them, they would not be making sure their kids always went to school?

But what they're not, is _every_ traveler there is.

But of the stories on that page you linked to, two are about the Dale Farm camp so you have to refer to them as travellers, two are about plans in other countries which are actually condemning the actions taken against travellers, one is about a criminal gang of travellers who took driving tests for other travellers, how else are you going to report that story without referring to travellers? The one about Tessa Jowell is a story about how a group of travellers moved onto a site without planning permission.
So i'm questioning the relevance of the argument about comparing use of the word traveller to the word jew?
