(, Wed 28 Sep 2011, 20:43, Reply)
Photography seems quite popular these days.
Apparently the modern camera doesn't even need film!
(, Wed 28 Sep 2011, 20:46, Reply)
that's crazy!
i hear the camera does all the work these days and if you spend lots on your camera you will get better pictures
(, Wed 28 Sep 2011, 20:46, Reply)
The world has moved on even further Captain.
I understand that some places, even backward places like Wales have gone beyond letting women take photos, they've actually let them TALK TO PEOPLE about how to take a holiday snap.

just keeping my head down for a bit so they don't try and get me to do more stuff
(, Wed 28 Sep 2011, 20:59, Reply)
Is there not a points system where doing 'more' oays more?

(, Wed 28 Sep 2011, 21:08, Reply)
not really
after a certain amount of hours you don't get paid more, you get time of in lieu. Since you can't take it anytime you pretty much do it for free
(, Wed 28 Sep 2011, 21:10, Reply)
Well, you keep your head down.

(, Wed 28 Sep 2011, 21:19, Reply)
Just back from tesco with heap big bargains.
Gonna need to defrost and reorganise the freezer to accommodate it all.
In other news: Today I fair noticed how savoury some of the goats get in the warm weather.
(, Wed 28 Sep 2011, 20:49, Reply)
I hope you got some ice-cream.

Trying to:

Ignore my annoying mother-in-law.
Calm down after aforesaid annoying mother-in-law has rearranged the kitchen so we can't find anything.
Prepare for a board meeting which will decide if I am going to become MD of the whole group.
Have a can of beer (am off cider at the moment)
Get supper ready.
Stave off the craving for a crafty wank.
(, Wed 28 Sep 2011, 20:51, Reply)
I'm off the cider too these days.
Do you want the MD role, or will it be a case of spending too much time on financials/strategy and less time doing what drew you to the industry in the first place.
(, Wed 28 Sep 2011, 20:53, Reply)

It's a bit complicated...

I sold my business and became joint MD of the group I sold it to. Benefits have been less stress (worrying about meeting payroll each month, sales etc.) Have enjoyed it.

Not adverse to being sole MD - have had jobs before with more responsibility and I am in some ways more suited to the strategic side.

Downside is less time to be with my family. I am very lucky though that Mrs Battered is very supportive of me no matter what decision I make.

I think I will do the job at least for the next year and then see about the longer term.

How come you're off the cider?
(, Wed 28 Sep 2011, 20:59, Reply)
I've been getting chest pains when I go on a big cloudy-cider-sesh.
Granted, I'll have some cloudy tomorrow, but that is the exception rather than the rule.

Glad 'Er Indoors is being supportive, of course, maybe she wants you to work longer hours so she can 'justify' being a stay-at-home mum.
(, Wed 28 Sep 2011, 21:04, Reply)
The plan is she won't be going back to work anyway.
I found cider was giving me a really bad acid stomach. Haven't had any since we had some delicious Breton cider at the wedding.
(, Wed 28 Sep 2011, 21:08, Reply)
Make her wear a burka!

(, Wed 28 Sep 2011, 21:12, Reply)
Have you got kids?
Time with them is beyond value.
(, Wed 28 Sep 2011, 21:39, Reply)

Then he should make his daughter wear a burka!
(, Wed 28 Sep 2011, 21:41, Reply)

Not only that, she will have a cast iron chastity belt, not be allowed out unaccompanied until she is 30 and even then she will have to be home by 8pm.

Just in case some cheeky cunt tries to RUIN it for me.

When I'm done with that, I might iron something. But the chances are, I'll have a beer and watch the telly.
(, Wed 28 Sep 2011, 20:58, Reply)

Just don't iron the telly and watch your beer.

Also avoid celebrity shoplifter Richard Madeley on BBC1. What a cunt.
(, Wed 28 Sep 2011, 21:00, Reply)
Would I do that Jeff?
And what should I do with braising steak?
(, Wed 28 Sep 2011, 21:03, Reply)
Braise it.

(, Wed 28 Sep 2011, 21:05, Reply)
Thanks for that

(, Wed 28 Sep 2011, 21:09, Reply)
What have you got to go with it?

(, Wed 28 Sep 2011, 21:11, Reply)

Get your griddle pan dead hot - hot hot hot - hot.
30 seconds each side.

Eat.
(, Wed 28 Sep 2011, 22:19, Reply)
I didn't think you could eat it like that

(, Wed 28 Sep 2011, 22:19, Reply)
How big/thick is the steak?

(, Wed 28 Sep 2011, 22:22, Reply)
Like a standard cm I think
maybe a bit more. About 4 or 5 hundred grams
(, Wed 28 Sep 2011, 22:31, Reply)
Well give it 30 seconds each side twice.

(, Wed 28 Sep 2011, 22:34, Reply)
Not if it's braising steak, it would be like chewing a chewy thing.
Yes, mega high temp for v short time, to burn the fucker on the outside is all. Then it wants a good hour at 120-140c with some liquid and veg. Carrots and onions are old favourites for good reason. Bay or rosemary both good, peppercorns work, maybe some red wine (the dregs from a nearly empty bottle works).
(, Wed 28 Sep 2011, 22:39, Reply)
Shitting fuck. I haven't seen any of them yet.
I need to watch the first two on iplayer, and I have tonight's on Sky+.

I don't get why they keep changing all the staff
Especially seeing as no-one ever speaks about anyone who's left. Even if they'd had a relationship with them.

Sssh! You're in danger of giving too much away about W****** R*** club.

I've been watching a rather mawkish documentary about Steps splitting up
and how they all still hate each other ten years later.
(, Wed 28 Sep 2011, 22:10, Reply)
Surprised at that.
Surely it's a case of 'Better The Devil You Know' - I can understand them hating each other for a while, but 10 YEARS! I thought they'd have been over it after, oooh, I don't know.... 5-6-7-8 year.

LTI IN SHAME.
