Most laptops you can plug into a telly, in fact, I can't think of one where you can't.
I wanna get Virgin when I move house so I can get iPlayer and the OD stuff on my telly easierly.
(, Sun 2 Oct 2011, 17:49, 2 replies, latest was 13 years ago)
Virgins are no fun. They don't know what they're doing.
get a slapper instead.

In other news, hello bad boy x
(, Sun 2 Oct 2011, 17:54, Reply)
Totally, I donno what the whole '70 virgins' thing is all about.
I mean, let's say that's what you really want, a virgin, that that is the pinical of your desire, then what good is 70 virgins when you're faced with eternity (seeing as how they don't believe in reincarnation). Give it a few melenia, given that time is ireivent in the after-life, 70 virgins (again, keeping in mind that is what they want, presuming the reverse is something that disgusts you) would be quite, well, undesireable.

Any no one wants an insecure little girl who goes "tee hee", laughing at everything while understanding nothing.

'ello lovely, how are you doing? How was your weekend?
(, Sun 2 Oct 2011, 18:11, Reply)
The topic of an excellent Billy Connolly sketch
how bloody boring having however many virgins would be - he'd rather have 4 complete and utter filthbags. That'd make for a much more interesting afterlife!
(, Sun 2 Oct 2011, 18:14, Reply)
Speaking of filthbags....

Who, me?
what've I done? *polishes halo*

like barn door in a storm, I'll bet

(, Sun 2 Oct 2011, 18:27, Reply)
No
miserable fart. He decided to have a mortgage-related sulk instead and then was irritatingly offhand when I called him earlier to see if he wanted me to come over. As a consequence I am now in a vile mood, sitting on my own at home stuffing my face with chinese takeaway.
(, Sun 2 Oct 2011, 18:36, Reply)
Is the food good at least?
I heard you made lovely cake. And his obvious loss
(, Sun 2 Oct 2011, 18:45, Reply)
She really ought to have some sort of online recognition for cakes
or a reputation, even. I mentioned it at the time, but I was just called a pandering wanker and laughed at.
(, Sun 2 Oct 2011, 18:48, Reply)
You pandering wanker

(, Sun 2 Oct 2011, 18:50, Reply)
=(

(, Sun 2 Oct 2011, 18:51, Reply)
I have a reputation for being a bit odd because I bring cake to every bash
but it's edible enough that it's a good thing rather than a weird thing.
(, Sun 2 Oct 2011, 18:52, Reply)
It's perfectly alright, yeah
takeaway chinese is rarely very good or very bad. And it was his loss, although I doubt he could have handled staying up as late as I did after drinking as much as I did, having slept as little as I did and then going to work.
I made lemon drizzle at Jeff's request, I'm sure you've had it before...
(, Sun 2 Oct 2011, 18:50, Reply)
I wanted lemon drizzle cake :(

(, Sun 2 Oct 2011, 18:51, Reply)
I'm sorry :(
It's a real shame you couldn't come, you were definitely missed! Although it would have been quite cosy with the three of us on Lampitos floor...
Next time!
(, Sun 2 Oct 2011, 18:53, Reply)
Careful
you'll be giving Gonz ideas...
(, Sun 2 Oct 2011, 18:58, Reply)
I doubt Kroney would feature in Gonz's daydream
whereas he was a feature on Lampitos floor. Apparently it was the lesser of two evils, given the state of his hotel room.
(, Sun 2 Oct 2011, 19:01, Reply)
When I went back to get my stuff, it was every bit as bad as I remembered
Buzzing fridge, hole in the bathroom floor, paper thin mattresses and goods trains rumbling past on the line three hundred yards from the window.

In contrast, a floor was almost luxurious.
(, Sun 2 Oct 2011, 19:05, Reply)
Christ, I've stayed in hostels in London which sound significantly better than that
and they're only about £12 a night.
(, Sun 2 Oct 2011, 19:09, Reply)
Yeah, I was surprised, I have to admit.
It takes talent to get a place that dodgy.
(, Sun 2 Oct 2011, 19:10, Reply)
Skills.

(, Sun 2 Oct 2011, 19:16, Reply)
I think most of us /OT ladies would fit that description, wouldn't we?
Or is that just me?
(, Sun 2 Oct 2011, 18:26, Reply)
Heh.
*says nothing*
(, Sun 2 Oct 2011, 18:40, Reply)
Is that cos your mouth is full?
*nudge nudge wink wink*
(, Sun 2 Oct 2011, 18:43, Reply)
Well, I'm eating my dinner
so yes.
(, Sun 2 Oct 2011, 18:44, Reply)
Hah, deffo.
Or I reckon, given that we're asking for things from some celestrial all-powerful being, a few of those shapeshifter type people from the scifi books/films, that would be awesome.
(, Sun 2 Oct 2011, 18:23, Reply)
well, you evidently do not know either my laptop, or my Telly. gonz.
It's doable but need converters that cost silly money, and being as I need a new lappy anyways, I'll get one with S-Video out, to match my telly.

Edit: before I get any more advice, yes I know they don't do this on new lappys, which is fine as I'm buying a second hand one. and no I shall not just by a new telly Mine works very well thank you.
(, Sun 2 Oct 2011, 18:28, Reply)
Here's some advice:
Try not being such a smug cunt.
(, Sun 2 Oct 2011, 18:34, Reply)
OK, will do.
sorry
(, Sun 2 Oct 2011, 18:36, Reply)
How often do you use it though? I would guess at least daily.
I don't see the point in a second hand laptop, you'll save at most £50 when talking low end, which will run into beyond days and possibly even weeks every year in time spent waiting around for things to load. There is no cool points to be won by having retro laptops or even telivisions, like there is with audio equipment or things like cars.
(, Sun 2 Oct 2011, 18:37, Reply)
Goz, if you can get me a new one for £170 (£50 mmore than the one I'm looking at).....
That will talk to my (S-Video/RGB/Scart) TV with out spending extra money one digital to analog converters, I'll buy it. Equally if you can find my a decent quality 28" TV to replace my old be excellent Sony within that budget...... It's not about cool it's about cash.
(, Sun 2 Oct 2011, 18:41, Reply)
What do you do on your laptop?
Next month or soo the Amazon Kindle Fire will be coming out at around £130, which would do all your internet browsing, emails, films, books, 'casual' gaming. I'm pretty sure they'll be some sort of TV-Out to RGB/Scart (I have one for my iPad), which would allow for you to use that. For £10-20 you can get a phsyical keyboard for it, if that is an issue.
(, Sun 2 Oct 2011, 18:49, Reply)
I thought they hadn't published a UK release date?

(, Sun 2 Oct 2011, 18:57, Reply)
Yeah', they also haven't released an offical price yet, as these things never go along the lines of the exchange rate (also, in the states, tax is different).
I very much doubt they'll miss the christmas rush in the UK as localisation (language, the 'kindle store', payment systems) aren't an issue. Amazon are bit funny with numbers, like the current-gen Kindle is £111, so it could be anything, but I doubt it'll be over £150.

Or they can be imported for a resonable amount.
(, Sun 2 Oct 2011, 19:03, Reply)
I'll wait til there's some reviews or a 2nd gen
so they've ironed out the kinks, but I really quite fancy one of them to be honest.
(, Sun 2 Oct 2011, 19:07, Reply)
Yeah', I'd wait for a load of reviews too, but all the hands-on stuff I've seen says it's wicked.
They're really clever really, it's hardware that the average person can afford (maybe with a bit of saving), and they'll make their money on the books/magazines/movies/TV/apps (etc). It's like what Apple have done in that respect, but the hardware isn't silly money.

It's apparently really easy to use too, if it turns out how it's supposed too, I would actually recomend it over a netbook or low-end laptop for the basic user, even though it's not designed as a replacement but a supliment.
(, Sun 2 Oct 2011, 19:12, Reply)
mostly internet, but I'm sticking to PCs.
Sorry if I'm coming across narky or arrogant, I have asrtinking cold and it's making me short tempered. It's a descision I've spent a lot of time researching and I'm happy to just buy another windows lappy like this one. there are only 2 things wrong with this, it won't talk to the telly and t's been dropped too often.
(, Sun 2 Oct 2011, 19:00, Reply)
Have you thought about getting a husband?
Mine *always* talks to the bloody TV.
(, Sun 2 Oct 2011, 19:06, Reply)
And judging by his ankle
he has been dropped once too often :)
(, Sun 2 Oct 2011, 19:08, Reply)
hahahaha
This.
(, Sun 2 Oct 2011, 19:11, Reply)
And that TomTom fella is always giving back-chat too.

(, Sun 2 Oct 2011, 19:12, Reply)
You mean Sat Nav Bitch?
She seems quite incapable of differentiating between 'bear' and 'turn'.
(, Sun 2 Oct 2011, 19:24, Reply)
I like the idea for a catchphrase for TomTom being
"Finally, someone in your life who won't lead you astray".
(, Sun 2 Oct 2011, 20:06, Reply)
That's fair enough, I was just saying that there are other options out there which'll do the job just as well (and probably better in some cases).
I use my laptop for at least 3-4 hours a day, I also wouldn't buy a sofa that's uncomfortable to sit on and would (and 'am') rather wait until I can afford one that I actually like.
