Long answer is the foundation stage is flawed, learning through play can only work
If that play is structured and relevant to learning. Most schools don't do literacy and numeracy everyday and this is why my American reception class are far more advanced than my welsh yr 1 class last year. Group work now means the teacher may only have direct contact with your child three or four times a week and for about twenty minutes at a time. I could go on and on but need a wee
