I had such an awesome day yesterday with lots of old friends and their kids.
Kiddo came out too and got on wonderfully with everyone, woo. This week's been a fucking mental rollercoaster, I hope it settles down next week. I'm visiting my best mate for a day of gaming tomorrow and taking another old friend for a walk and talk on Wednesday. Sweet.

I'm glad you had a good time, after all the stress you'd built up surrounding it.
I keep meaning to ask - is this walking tour thing you do a business? Or is it just something you'd be doing anyway?

It's a charity.
It's less a tour and more a "If you want to meet up and talk, I'll take you outdoors and we can walk somewhere lovely while I listen."

Cool.
So, do people get referred to you then?
(, Sun 20 Nov 2011, 12:09, Reply)
I've knocked it on the head this year as I haven't really felt up to taking on other people's shit, but I'm determined to get it underway again this next few months, particularly in the spring when the weather improves.
Self-referral mostly, when it's fully established I'll get some proper accreditation and insurance and hopefully get referrals from elsewhere.

I'm just looking throughthe website now.
It looks like a very good idea. Have you thought about applying for lottery funding?
(, Sun 20 Nov 2011, 12:14, Reply)
I have, I spent last year proving the concept
but as an unqualified counsellor - I'm a listener, in fact - I don't feel hugely comfortable setting it up as a funded service until I'm more experienced and at least partially qualified. That'll come eventually, the base running costs are quite low but I'd like a little funding to allow me to promote more, broaden my range a bit and increase my access to courses and qualifications.

Try talking to other established depression charities
They might be able to give you some advice.

They may well, and I already have quite a few contacts locally that've been very helpful, so I'll lean on them again when the time is right.
Appreciated, lady, cheers.

Oh wow, I've heard you talk about this idea but never realised you've implimented it.
What's the website? I know it's not really a thing someone says to mates, but I'm actually really proud with you on this idea.

Oh and I've just downloaded the cheap Magicka bundle off Steam for £4.50, that should keep me busy for a few hours today.

(, Sun 20 Nov 2011, 12:12, Reply)
Have you played it yet? I looked at that but wasn't sure about it.

(, Sun 20 Nov 2011, 12:14, Reply)
It's just finished, I'll report back later.
From what I've seen it's right up my street.

no hangover for me, I rarely get them
probably just as well as I was woken by the mortgage woman on the phone and had to spend ages rooting through documents and things.

what should I have for lunch? I'm thinking of going to morrisons, so it could be ANYTHING *exciting*

I got a kilo of bacon offcuts for £2 at the butcher a few days ago, I got some chunks out, trimmed them, cut them into thin slices and made bacon on toast for me and kiddo.
WIN I tell you, WIN!
(, Sun 20 Nov 2011, 13:02, Reply)

i wish they did bacon rolls there, then i wouldn't have all that cleaning the pan lark after it

Fuck that, a splash of hot water from the kettle, a squirt of washing up liquid, quick swish around with a plastic brillo sponge, sorted.
