So a good day's shopping then?
I had an afternoon nap. It was awesome.

I still have the bulk of the buying to do, mostly for my sone, but that takes less thought, just money, so I'm quite happy,
I also totally bought a shooting stick, which is something I've been wanting for a while. The was no sensible way to carry it except to use it as a walking stick, so I did, which for some reason induced me to walk with a limp. This was ace in crowds and on the tube home, people actually treated my like a human being. I think I might take to walking with the stick/limp combo more often,

You've ruined it now : (

Oh bugger, I did worry that might happen, but I didn't think I'd told anyone but my mum I wanted one.
On the bright side, now you have a shooting stick, we can be shooting stick buddies.

I didn't mean like that, wash your mind out with soap and water. :)

If any friend is worth their salt then it's all about the thought and not the price.

I have one but got hacked off with the lessons and haven't picked it up since. silly brain.

Served me better than lessons.
Mind you, I started a uke group (the Ukudoodlers lol) which helped ;) every second Sunday afternoon, uke and cake and tea! Actually had the secretary of the George Formby Society in the group for a while ;)

It put me off so much I've not played since I gave up the classs. as I say, silly brain.

In fact, I blew some people's minds the other day when I played a right-handed guitar left-handed, proper fucking "Whoa!" I assume a ukulele is a graduation of my guitar ability, so I'm looking forward to learning.

So I've had a little practice reversing bar-chord shapes and scales on right-handed guitars upside-down.

I try not to be modest but when people go "Fucking hell, how do you do that?" I can't help but be a touch smug.
(, Sat 26 Nov 2011, 21:44, Reply)
Modesty can be a bit of a waste of time.
I'm not that hot on the uke, but I fair enjoy it and folk seem to get some joy from it!
I take it with me on wednesdays sometimes, when I'm doing my driving for Age UK. Have a singalong with the old goats. They fucking love it! Even when I drop in a bit of Dylan or Zep ;)

My mate Craig is a stunning guitarist but a week after I lent him my uke he told me that when he went back to his guitar he got all confused. I told him he was being a mong and thinking too much about it and since then he's been ok with it!

I played with an upside-down banjo a few months back and got the whole deal in about fifteen minutes, so I reckon I can progress to a right-way-up uke in a similar amount of time. Plus, with tab, internet, video etc I can usually pick up a playing style in a few minutes so I'm really looking forward to it. Also, I have kinda fallen for this youtube chick:

There's a lot of good uke stuff out there. maybe I'll have to pick mine up aagain aand just concentrait on enjoying myself and not worry about others.
(, Sat 26 Nov 2011, 21:57, Reply)
But I suck at just sitting and practising by my self. the classes made me get out and do stuff and I did learn a fair bit, but I just could not play along with others with out freezing up and I hated it.
(, Sat 26 Nov 2011, 22:02, Reply)
Maybe you're different now in a class situation. You're older and more confidant.
(, Sat 26 Nov 2011, 22:04, Reply)
It wasn't confidence it was not playing well with others. it's OK, I have the basics I just need to kick my own arse to do it on my own. I'll try to reach this standard: www.youtube.com/watch?v=b4V1WQ6Nisg&feature=related
night night.
