Been at a party
In previous years their parties were v sex drugs and rock'n'roll. Now they have a baby. Fuck me it was dull. Just loads of leaky breasted women asking if I had kids and the negative glazed answer not putting a one of them off talking about little cuthbert for the next year. And is there a more depressing sign in a pub than "a net mums favourite family venue"???

Anyway. I cannot find destroyed jeans anywhere, even abercrombie. Well, Hollister. So I have bought some to fuck up myself. Any tips? Cheese grater and a scalpel?

Better than a mumsnet favourite venue.

(, Sat 28 Jan 2012, 22:04, Reply)
Carry your keys in the pockets for four years.
And/or cut it with one of those vicious little bastard Stanley knife-type jobbies used for cutting pallet wrap that have a hook instead of a blade.

Since they're the number one cause of gashed thumbs and fingers in warehouses all over Europe, they can't be any good for fabric.
(, Sat 28 Jan 2012, 22:05, Reply)
I need them for next week...
..... Gok tells me bleach, cold wash, sandpaper and wire brush. Trip to the amusingly named S&M hardware store tomorrow it is.
(, Sat 28 Jan 2012, 22:08, Reply)
Worryingly.
I have the same advice as Gok.
(, Sat 28 Jan 2012, 22:09, Reply)

Are you serious?
Cuthbert is a legitamate boy's name again?

They may as well have Cringeworthy as a middle name too.

Edit: after wearing my own jeans for a week or two, they can easily be described as destroyed. I'll send you a pair if you like.
(, Sat 28 Jan 2012, 22:10, Reply)
Ha ok so I exaggerate. But not by much.

(, Sat 28 Jan 2012, 22:10, Reply)
Kid's names nowadays. It's ridiculous.
What's wrong with John, Paul, George and Richard?
(, Sat 28 Jan 2012, 22:13, Reply)

Richard Starkey (father of well known poncey historian David) was Ringo.

Good weekend?

(, Sat 28 Jan 2012, 22:20, Reply)
Yeah, so far. My back is getting better, and I went to see my mum because her house is going to be flattened for the HS2 railway link.
Seems she will get market valuse plus 10% for the house, and money to adapt another house to her decrepit needs. She is more worried about loss of habitat for the birds though.
(, Sat 28 Jan 2012, 22:23, Reply)
When is this happening?

(, Sat 28 Jan 2012, 22:28, Reply)
Not for a couple of years, but they want people to get ready.
She's 87, and says she may not live that long. Her mother lived to be 96, so I told her to not be so daft.
(, Sat 28 Jan 2012, 22:36, Reply)
How many houses are being knocked down for this?

(, Sat 28 Jan 2012, 22:37, Reply)
It must be high hundreds, just between london and the M25.

(, Sat 28 Jan 2012, 22:41, Reply)
Must be cheaper to upgrade existing lines.

(, Sat 28 Jan 2012, 22:42, Reply)
It's already 4 lines, and goes through the centre of many towns.
The work would mean closing that route while the work went ahead. This way, they build the line while the existing one continues to work its bollocks off.
(, Sat 28 Jan 2012, 22:45, Reply)
This is going to cost billions.

(, Sat 28 Jan 2012, 22:46, Reply)
It is also a method of getting the economy going.
This is an important point.
(, Sat 28 Jan 2012, 22:48, Reply)
How?

(, Sat 28 Jan 2012, 22:53, Reply)
They will put the econemy on one of the new super fast train.

(, Sat 28 Jan 2012, 22:53, Reply)
And run it into the buffers.
G'night all.
(, Sat 28 Jan 2012, 22:56, Reply)
Now that is sad, I bet it is a nice house too.
Its all being done for political gain- Cameron thinks it will make the midlands conurbation and the north like him more (it won't), Milliband just relishes annihilating southern rurality.
(, Sat 28 Jan 2012, 22:36, Reply)
Well maybe.
The part of the line by my mum's is an existing but underused mainline that used to go to Birmingham. I see the having to move as an opportunity, to move to a bungalow or flat where she can be independant, but with a warden on call when she needs them. As for the railway lne, I think it is just going to end up as a normal medium speed line to take the pressure off the already up to capacity west coast mainline. It just needs a gimic to get the funding, so let's call it the high speed line.
(, Sat 28 Jan 2012, 22:40, Reply)
And it'll all get scrapped in five years' time when they realise it's a vastly expensive project with no direct benefit to London or the south-east.

(, Sat 28 Jan 2012, 22:42, Reply)
This is a possibility.
I feel they want to throw so much money at it now, it will be uneconomic to not continue with it.
(, Sat 28 Jan 2012, 22:47, Reply)
Nothing, provided that they're spelt "Jhyonn", "Paolll", "Dzhiordge", and "Rychurt".

Sounds a bit Celty to me.
