Going out to one of my many social swarays and rubbing elbows with the great and the good.
Or sitting at home reading and watching telly. You know, whatever.

The problem with Arsenal is they just try and walk it in

(, Thu 2 Feb 2012, 20:17, Reply)
Oh, are we talking about Arsenal?
I was just generally bluffing it with 'sports team' talk.

I was just paraphrasing The IT Crowd
I've run out of things after that
(, Thu 2 Feb 2012, 20:20, Reply)
I think we've out-manlied the men.
They seem to have been scared off by all our tough talk.
Shall we talk about curtains again?
(, Thu 2 Feb 2012, 20:26, Reply)
OK
but beyond 'I have red curtains and only learnt today that you are meant to have bigger curtains than the window space' I don't have any other curtain knowledge.

I am not very good at being manly or girly

=(
(, Thu 2 Feb 2012, 19:53, Reply)
it's because soiree isn't spelled swaray.

(, Thu 2 Feb 2012, 19:54, Reply)
Oh lol, that's how I've always spelt it.

(, Thu 2 Feb 2012, 19:56, Reply)
That'll be why you didn't get teh joke.

(, Thu 2 Feb 2012, 19:57, Reply)
Is it a french word?

(, Thu 2 Feb 2012, 20:07, Reply)
It is indeed.
It comes from the French word 'soir', meaning 'evening'. As in 'bon soir'. Adding the 'ée' makes it into a length of time rather than a general noun. The same works for 'jour - journée', and 'an - année'.
