Yesterday the blokes from Wicks came down, and he messured up my kitchen. Spent a good two hours on it. Today I spent a good 4 hours in wicks, designing it, picking things it, all laahh-dee-darrr. He said to me, "Glossy is the cheapest... granit ain't that much more... Look, this tap is £500, the one you like is £150, is it _really_ that expensive? They start at £80 anyway". I said to him "Hold on hot-shot, we got a budget here, I ain't the queen", even though he implied that I'll be cooking in a kitchen belonging to one.
So I choose everything, I thought to not go for the silly-money stuff, like the black grannate studded with silver specs that get picked up by the light. And it was georgous, jet black, stainless steal and bright orange. I shit you know not, it looked the bomb, exactly what a young go-getter like me wants.
So he tots it up, it's double what I thought, but then there is a shitload of discounts knocking it down to 25-50% more than what I thought. And it'll be a fair few quid more if I don't say 'yes' by wensday... which ain't gonna happen.
So now my dream kitchen is stuck in someone's computer and I've spent a good 7 hours this weekend dreaming it up. It's not even my 100% completely dream want-want-want kitchen, it doesn't have instant boiling water or any exgravigances like that. I said to him how much I can spend and he said you can't tell by that as where you cut in A you make for in B, that you could have the cheapest units and most expensive work-top. BUT, but, if he would have listened, he could have at least told me to go whistle on a few of my ideas.
But never mind, I've done some really awesome work this weekend that'll make everyone at work "WTF? U ROCK" with me on monday, and I got some of ma's jewish chicken soup for dinner.

No wonder you are pissed off. I would be suicidal if I had been in Wicks for that long and didn't come out with a power tool.

It took his computer about 20 seconds to render the 3D image, so I said "My Dad used to play around with similar software, he was just playing with ideas with property, rather than spec'ing up a room... But I've never worked out why the people who make this stuff don't use video-game SDKs, it would be photo-realistic and you could walk around as if you're in the room.", and he started talking about how he looked into that idea but they told him he'll be a coffee-boy for years and move to the states... so I told him about how my manager used to work for Valve, and I'm sure they can pass on to a development studio.
