Doesn't really lead to much open discussion, this.
So permit me to ask a question - giving up smoking. It's been the best part of 30 years but I really need to stop.

How?

I could do quite quitting, it's the price more than anything thats doing it for me.
If I could go back in time and force myself not to do just one thing that I've done in my life, it'll be taking up smoking.

have you tried quitting before?
what didn't work then?

9 month on nicotine gum worked for me.
I then just switched to normal chewing gum because I was so used to chewing something all the time. I didn't notice the difference at all and then just slowly cut down on that. Haven't smoked in a year and two months now.

It was really as easy as I made that sound, BUT it was my 5th or 6th attempt to quit and I failed miserably every other time, so I assume something in my mindset was different this time too.

I'm not a chewer really
I'm quite fit for my age, but I am my age (44 this year) and I want to stay fit.

Me neither which is why I weaned myself back off again
but I took it up as the preferable option to carrying on smoking.

Could try the lozenges instead? you just stick them under your tongue until they dissolve.

Good luck with whatever you try.

Thanks - I'll try whatever I feel best with
I'm going back to old QOTW days, but didn't you have an Ulverston connection once?

Yeah, I visit there a lot.

I tend to be occasional evenings on O/T
I was brought up in Barrow, but I'm better now.

I was in Barrow a couple of weekends ago. Walking on Walney Island, specifically.
I've been to worse places than Barrow. Shame it's economy is so fucked really, it could be a great town.

Although it's all relative, I'm from Basildon, so don't have a high baseline.

I live in Bradford now. It's worse than Barrow but it has better things nearby.
My old man was brought up on Walney. We chucked his ashes into the wind at Biggar on Christmas Day.

the way forward
is E-lites - give them a go, I've cut down massively.

It's the actually wanting to quit that matters, if you catch my drift?
With that strength inside you then quitting without assistance is a doddle.
That's how I did it, after nigh on twenty years of 20 Regal King Size a day.
